Sven-Goran Eriksson has been a revelation at Eastlands this season and his efforts to make Man City into a force to be reckoned with probably only need a few more top-class players, most notably in the attacking department, hence the raft of rumours circulating regarding potential new signings.

Here are the players mentioned with a brief thought on whether the move could indeed happen.

  • Aiden McGeady (Irish Independent) – £12m from Celtic: Could indeed happen, but only if Gordon Strachan is willing to lose one of his hottest talents.
  • David Villa (various) – £25m from Valencia: The Spaniard is coming to the Premier League, that seems certain. But will he opt for City? I think Chelsea are most likely to get him.
  • Peter Crouch (various) – £12m from Liverpool: I think this is a very real possibility as Rafa Benitez doesn’t have a great deal of faith in the England international.
  • Juninho (various) – £6m from Lyon: A very talented playmaker who has been on the radar of many clubs for a while now, the Brazilian is a creative talent who is well known for his set-pieces and vision. This would be a fantastic addition to the City starting XI which lacks a player of his type.
  • Gilberto Silva (various) – £3m from Arsenal: Still has something in the tank and would welcome a fresh challenge. The Brazil World Cup winner is well worth signing, however he may harbour dreams of a move to Serie A.
  • Dimitar Berbatov (The Sun) – £40m from Spurs: I think he is staying at Tottenham and unlikely to join the light blue revolution.
