Rumours: Man City in £100m spending spree

It has been strongly rumoured around Manchester that Svenn will be handed an enormous transfer / wages budget for next season. The owner pledged an eye watering amount to entice Svenn to the club and will, given that his (previously) frozen funds are now being freed up, he will stick to his word. It's been said all along that Thaksin is determined to show LFC what they missed out on and the football world that he is behind a "super power"

I think the amount may well be correct but I don't believe any of the names mentioned. New signings will have to fit the new age profile of the squad which tends to rule out Juninho and Gilberto and to a lesser extent Crouch.

Sven pulled out of a deal with Schalke O4 for their Crouch lookalike Larsen (6'4") hours before the Benjani deal. On the one hand, that affords a reasonable inference that Sven did want Crouch (a Crouch-like player), but, as he couldn't get him (or think he was worth the money) he went for someone else. If he had signed Larsen, would this Crouch talk be ongoing? Of course not. He signed Benjani...so where is Crouch going to fit in now? Sturridge, Evans, Bojinov, Castillo, Caicedo, Vassell, Benjani...where does Crouch fit in? How does Crouch fit in to Sven's team NOW? He doesn't. Silva? Why? Hamann just got a one-year extension. Who is Silva going to dislodge? Johnson? Ireland? Gelson? Hamann? Juninho? Is Elano on his way out then?

I dont think he will spend that big even the money is available. I think the players he brings in will be young and mostly more about tomorrow than today. I reckon he would pay good money for a right winger (SWP would be my choice), a replacement for Elano who is great when on song but not consistent enough (McGready might be the one or he might be happy with Ireland). I dont think he needs another striker now but is he coud get Benzema or Berbatov all well and good. If the current squad is fit then its top 4 material today

I feal crouch is absolute rubbish, juninho is too old, gilberto is too old, Aiden Mcgready could come but he'll not get into the starting line-ups unless sven will turn us into a big club. I hope city get rid of Isaksson, Garrido, D.Mills, Sun, M.Mills, (Maybe) Geovanni(because he's not playing), Bianchi, Samaras, Dickov, Mpenza, Corradi and then we should buy noone and let our academy come through to work there magic.Maybe we could buy one or two in the summer though.

I think we can safely say that the targets on Sven's radar will not be second guessed by the media. Unless if by some chance we do get CL football (yeah, long shot I know) and then the cheque book will come out for the top internationals as Dr Frank's 3 year plan will have been brought forward by 2 years!

none of the above are likely to be on svens radar for the reasons mentioned.... however, also due to the fact that Thaksins funds are infact still frozen, hence his continual persual of the owner of singha beer to throw in some moolar. on another note... none of the above players fit svens profile......basically theyve been mentioned in the press!!

I think its impossible to guess how much we will spend in Summer, Depending where we Finish. If we miss out on Europe it will be difficult to attract the players sven will want and so 100M wouldnt be close. On the other Hand If we Hit 4th spot Sven isn't Stupid he would see it as a Massive opurtunity to get the Best in, Then 100M may be close. Few of the Above would fit My Bill though, David Bentley would be my First buy along with a Big bid for Villa, Maybe a World Clss Left back away from The Best back Four in the League too. I wouldnt Replace hamann Yet because Corluka can easily slot into his Role.

I'm pretty confident that Sven will continue to buy young 20-24 talented players, comfortable on the ball and with a turn of pace. Which lets out most of the names mentioned. McGeady looked brilliant ripping up Aberdeen the other week but the pace of the SPL is soooooooooooo slow. The way Logan is playing for the reserves he will soon be challenging for the RB slot. All Sven need buy is a really top class midfielder, a left back and, as a super luxury item, a right winger. I don't think Bentley is good enough. Thanks to Sven, Gripper and Hans + of course Jim Cassell we now have a wealth of talented young players and given that Svennis and co are (a) tacticians (b) good motivators the future looks very exciting.

I think the best thing for city would be to continue the progress of the youth system, and to buy great young players. I think sven should buy one of the Bender brothers and progress him in the youth system to become the next holding midfielder. if he new it was good for him he would buy Aguero, or Dos Santos. They are quality and would add excitement to the side.
