As seems to be the case in the run up to all NFL seasons of late, the future of Brett Favre is once again dominating the news agenda.

The veteran quarterback is pondering a twentieth consecutive season in the National Football League and will base his decision on whether his 40-year-old body will stand up to the rigours of another season of hard-hits and physical toil.

The three-time MVP Award winner has recently had surgery on his ankle and has said:

“I can walk fine, but you don't walk in football. Then it kind of works from there up. If you wake up in the morning and your feet hurt, it kind of makes the rest of your body hurt, and if you've been sacked 700 times, that usually adds to it.”

It seems that the great man is in two minds as to whether he should soldier on for one last hurrah or if that might just be to the detriment of his team, the Minnesota Vikings, should he be unable to deliver.

On thing is for sure, if he carries on it won’t be for another franchise.

“It's a great football team - I know that now, I knew it last year,” stated Favre. “I would love to play and be the best I could possibly be, and that's really what I'm working toward right now.”

Despite all the conjecture, you get the feeling that the old man wants one last crack at the big time and if you are into NFL betting you could do worse that stick a few bucks on Favre embarking on season number 20 when the NFL rolls round once again.
