I have been involved in tennis since the 1950s training with the elite of this country in the city and country and later travelling and playing on the European circuit where I met my American Husband. Living and coaching in California I, came back to Australia and spent time in remote aboriginal settlement far and cry from the glamour and sophistication of the grand slams but a plae where sport and motion was free and easy. I have seen the develpment of tennis from cutting the back swing down and playing the ball like a cricket bat against a fast bowler and then revert to the swinging baseball swing and force of the williams girls.Tennis changes through the years but the elements of competition and difficlties sting remain. hAVING SEEN THE aUSSIE oPEN 50 YEARS AND HAVING HEARD MY DAD SPEAK OF THE FORMER 30 YEARS , MY EXPERIENCE IS A LIVING MUSEUM OVERVIEW OF PLAYERS AND THEIR ANTICS THAT HAVE FLAVOUR RATHER THAN FAME AND FRIENDSHIP OVER MONEY AND INFLUENCE. tENNIS IS A LIVING BREATHING SPORT AND THOSE WHO KNOW IT UNDERSTAND AND LOVE THE NUANCES AND THE TRAGEDIES AS WELL AS THE GLAMOUR AND IMMORTALITY OF THE LEGENDS.
