The German National Basketball League (BBL) have again announced record attendances after completion of main round games.

For the third time in BBL history, more than a million fans packed into the 18 First Division arenas. The 305 main-round matches drew 1,118,175 spectators between October 2008 and May 2009.

ALBA Berlin once more attracted most fans, with 159,120 spectators (average 9,360) watching their 17 home matches at the brand new O2 World arena - a BBL record.

The Brose Baskets, with 112,000 (average 6,588), and the Telekom Baskets Bonns with 86,040 (average 5,061) had the next biggest attendances.

Holders ALBA  Berlin are rated by the experts as  favourites at the play-off stages, which start on Sunday. The 2009 cup winners safeguarded their No.1 seeding against Göttingen and Oldenburg - and head coach Luka Pavicevic will be confident of a fifth double championship .

The best-of-five quarter-finals line-up is: ALBA  Berlin (1) v Paderborn Baskets (8);  MEG Göttingen (2) v Brose Bamberg (7); EWE Baskets Oldenburg (3) v Deutsche Bank Skyliners (6); Telekom Baskets Bonn (4) v Ratiopharm Ulm (5).

Eurosport will be showing the play-off games on free TV this season. During the main round only selected games could be seen on the Internet at sportdigital.tv and bbl.tv.
