Ghana's National Sports Council has sworn in a new group of administrators and managers for the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA).

This was also part of the NSC's mission to give a new life to the country's sporting action.

The new group includes David Addo-Ashong (chairman), Benjamin Baafi (vice-chairman), Christiana Dodoo (secretary-general) , Ato Van Ess, SB Macauley (GES member), Iddrisu Gamel, Kingsley Kwame Adu, Daniel S. Dua and Sly Tetteh.

The new administrative management will be expected to bring new life into the GBBA and improve the image and organisation of the game in Ghana.

Ghana basketball has, for the past few years, suffered a lot due to the inefficiency of the adminstration of the GBA.

The double duty given to the office of secretary-general by the NSC has, over the years, been the big weakness in sport - and especially basketball.

Basketball is a major sport and needs a lot of attention and specialisation in order to achieve the results. The outgoing secretary-general had a double task as he was the secretary-general for handball as well as basketball,

And new secretary-general Dadoo has also been double-tasked as she is the secretary-general for both basketball and women's sports. Christiana has been involved in women's sports for more than a year and this might affect her full participation and dedication to basketball.

The other members of the association have complained over the years to the NSC that this is not in the best interest of the sport, but no action has been taken to solve this issue.

Nevertheless, with the new life injected into the GBBA, it is hoped to see more activity from the association, especially activities involving the national teams and development programmes and projects.
