King Khalid Unversity Hospital shocked their Inter-Hospital Open Division rivals Al Hammadi Hospital with a spirited third-quarter fightback to snatch an 89-87 win in the First Western Union FILBAR basketball tournament.

Veteran ex-collegiate player Roel Langit scored 20 points with five assists, while Zaldy Tumagnan chipped in with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks for KKUH. Jeff Salac's 13 points in a  third-quarter run were to prove decisive.

Al-Hamadi never gave up until the final bell, with Arnold Gaviola (28 points) and teammate Leo Ferrer (24 points) outstanding in defeat.

In the other Inter-Hospitals game, Riyadh Military Hospital relied on their ex-UST Growling Tiger Roel Asay to design an 84-68 victory over the Specialized Medical Center.
   
Displaying his power, Asay produced a balanced performance at both ends of the court. He even dunked the ball at will with defenders in front of him as one of the highlights of the game. He finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

It was only two points in favour of RMH at the end of the third quarter at 55-53, but they turned up the heat in the final session to outscore the SMC 29-15. Benitez top-scored for SMC with 21 points.
