After a one-year break, Kosit 2013 were back in Euroleague Women's action with a hard-fought 70-62 win against Dexia, proving that the best team in Slovakia are back at full power.

Dexia went into the game hoping to build on their win over USVO the previous week and rushed into a 4-0 lead after a three-point shot from Elzbieta Miedzik. However, Kosit fought back and eventually got themselves level at 19-19, before two successful free throws from Marjorie Carpreaux gave Dexia a 21-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter wasn't too different, as both teams failed to take total control. Dexia then went 27-24 in front but once again Kosit refused to lie down and three-pointers from Kathryn Ann Gearlds and center Alena Kovacova saw them 38-32 ahead at half-time.

'Towards the end of the game the home team were saved by Cikosova, who grabed three steals in less then two minutes'

Luisa Michulkova scored 15 points, making one three-pointer and Gearlds collected 13 points, her three three-pointers confirming the decision to put her in the starting line-up.

The start of the second half was marked by three offensive fouls from Kosit, who didn't improve their score until the sixth minute, with Dexia scoring only four points. Kosit were ahead by five at the beginning of the last quarter after one of the stars of the team, Jalcova, scored eight points in a row.

Towards the end of the game the home team were saved by Cikosova, who grabed three steals in less then two minutes. The Belgians tried to tie the game but first Janel McCarville and then Alena Kovacova were fouled and they both made two free throws to show their class in clinching victory for Kosit.

It was a fine comeback by the Kosice team after their 62-60 defeat by Spartak Moscow the previous week.
