Well, as you all probably know, this year's All Star basketball game will be in the Big Easy - New Orleans. Next years is in Phoenix. And in 2010 it's scheduled for Toronto. So why not Miami in 2011?

Back in 1990, there was an All Star Game down here. But it was in the Miami Arena, a dreadful place. Then, we built the American Airlines Arena, unarguably one of the premier arenas in the NBA. And bear in mind that in 1990, a lot of us were too young to remember the big event.

Memphis, Portland and Sacramento are the only NBA cities that haven't hosted an All Star Game yet. But their arenas are nothing compared to ours. Not one of those three cities is noted for its attractiveness in terms of holiday makers and tourists. Either there are not that many people there, or it's just that not so many people visit.
In Miami, there are lots of tourists, so that could make the festivities more interesting. Miami did stage the 2003  NHL All Star game and the Super Bowl last year, and they both were a great success. Even the Marlins World Series sold out a 70,000-capacity stadium.

So why not Miami for the 2011 All Star NBA bonanza? Hopefully Commissioner Stern will consider it.
