NBA: Chris Paul my candidate for the MVP award for 2008
Unfashionable Now Orleans Hornets are flying high in the Western Conference - and the young Paul has put them there.

The 2007-2008 NBA regular season has been one of the most exciting in recent memory. And this can be solely attributed to the extremely high level of competition taking place in the Western Conference.
Six teams have 50-plus wins, and at the end of the season there could be as many as nine. The first six spots, with roughly seven games left, are separated by three games. In addition to this there is an intriguing MVP race. Since the East has clearly been the inferior conference, the MVP should be the most valuable player from the best team in the West.
Leading candidates at the moment are Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Kevin Garnett, and LeBron James. All are worthy. My previous statement, however, eliminates Garnett and James, leaving the battle between Bryant and Paul.
Chris Paul is averaging 21 pts, a league-leading 11.5 assists, 2.7 steals and four rebounds a game. He deserves to be the winner because he has done more with less, and right now his team is on top of one of the toughest play-off races ever.

You forgot to mention that Chris Paul has played with a healthy team the whole season while Kobe Bryant has not. (mainly Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol, and even himself...)

I think LeBron deserves to be MVP...come on people, you are talking that MVP doesn't mean to be the best player. You are talking that MVP title depends of where is your team...that is stupid..it exist award for teams...MVP means most valuable player, and lebron's statistic shows that he is MVP.

Chris Paul has become a superstar and has carried that entire franchise on his back, but as others noted, he played with a relatively healthy supporting cast. Also, Peja Stojakovic is a former 3-pt champ, and David West is an All Star, so you can't really say Paul's "done more with less." Kobe played all 82 games and played them with a pinky finger that requires surgery. Although the MVP award is based on regular season performance, Kobe's award is validated. The Hornets were up 2-0 to the Spurs and couldn't close them out, while the Lakers have the NBA's best record in the postseason thus far.
