Shaun Pollock is in my opinion the best cricketer in South Africa. Let me give you the female version. Let's face it, he is not the best-looking player in the game today (that would be a competition between Michael Clarke and A.B de Villiers), but there is something about those big brown eyes and that red hair which can be seen from the top stand at any ground in the world. But my favourite part of Shaun is the ears - I always said that he should have been an extra in Lord of the Rings as an elf.

However, Pollock is not in the team because of his elfish looks but because of his all-round performance on the pitch, whether we need him to bowl a tight line at the beginning of an innings or to come in and pound that white ball all over the stadium. He gives a 110 per cent every game, and even though he is now considered a senior citizen in the South African team, he can still do the job.

Where Shaun scores highest is that he is the most humble person on earth - he never talks about himself. Listening to his acceptance speech on Saturday afternoon when he got Man of the Series against India, he didn't speak badly about the tourists, adding that he was shocked to receive the award, that Ashwell Prince deserved it more. That shows how much he loves the game, his country and fellow players.

Now that' s cricket, doll.
