greg chappels conribution to indian cricket is minuscule compared to the fafare he generated around himself and the size of his fees. if he has made some improvemt, players must be leaving it in the dressing room. the fielders who were naturally agile have been good, those who were poor fielders have not improved. batting has also gone worse, but bowling has suffered the most - irfan and bhajji is the most obvious case in point. he is a bad man-mangaer and seems to alienate all the players - one finds it hard to believe thatplayers who have come up the hard way cab take so badly to training - john wright in his book also said that there training was unprofessional and players were pampered he arrived but when he read the riot act, cricketers accepted it with a shrug and were enthusiatic about the more demanding physical traiing he introduced. this is probably because john was a likeable guy who dint crave the limelight by doing sensational things - he had the air of a diplomat about him. chappell wants to

Your article is really nice but i dont agree with your heading. It should be ugly face of sub continent cricket. Its the player power versus management. Keep up the good work.

Like most Indians today, I dont have a particular liking for Chappell. But ya, this article reminded me that, we were on some sorta winning spree after he took charge. He must have a plan and it worked when he was working without any pressure and was being heeded. But like Ganguly, he acts kinda 'warrior' even when its not wartime. Probably coz is Ausie. Dravid and Wright've had a more 'correct' approach in comparison. But we need 'character' in Indian Cricket, correct we've always been. At times over correctness-borders on docility. Oh, are we growing out of stereotype?
