The fifth misconception about Indian cricket is that a change of coach will solve all the team's problems. The BCCI don't realise basic inadequacies which have nothing to do with a coach.

Our future generation cricketers will be no better than our current generation if we keep playing them on featherbed pitches at domestic levels. The fielders won't learn to dive around if we keep giving them poorly maintained grounds. Why don't we have the best grounds and infrastructure in the world when we are the richest cricket country?

The BCCI must take the blame over Greg Chappell. He may have been a super batting coach, but he simply had no idea how to deal with bowlers. What were the BCCI doing when they saw that the best thing he could do about bowlers was to teach one of them ‘how to bat’? Irfan Pathan is a good batsman today but his bowling is not good enough.

Ask a roadside vendor, he will tell you the solution to India's cricket problems. The BCCI has always had resources, what they don’t have there is people who are willing to work. They spend their money for nothing. Organising matches gives them a high. Viewers are treated like prisoners. They are not accountable. The worst part is that they are not being scrutinised . Everybody, from the coach to the players are being punished but the BCCI get away with everything.

Our dismal performance in the World Cup could well be what will push the things over the edge. Our country is full of diversities, sport brings us all together. Like every Indian I love cricket and I just can’t stand seeing this organisation slowly kill our national game. If hockey, once a religion in our country, can fade out of our memories, cricket could be next. We need to find a solution.
