No balls! Andrew Symonds’ attack on streaker is just not cricket
Aussie all-rounder must be punished for taking the law into his own hands.

Cricket is a game with laws and rules. The spirit of the sport demands gentlemanly competition and diplomacy. The latest Aussie blunder is another example of their lack of ability to grasp these fundamentals.
It may seem petty, but Andrew Symonds has to be punished for his aggressive shoulder charge on a streaker. Symonds was batting in the second one-day series final against India at the Gabba in Brisbane when a naked drunk ran on to the ground. The Aussie all-rounder bowled the idiot over as he ran past.
Now, streakers are a nuisance, for sure, but the law is the law. Aussies seem to struggle with it more and more.
Symonds clearly doesn't understand his vigilante act is just not cricket. He has taken the law upon himself, and although he might enjoy this type of gratuitous display of bravado or get a thrill out of the release of aggression, it is against the law.
If Symonds had injured the poor bloke, he could be liable for damages in any court of law.
In the meantime, Cricket Australia and the ICC must enforce the laws of cricket and Symonds must take his punishment for getting involved unnecessarily with the crowd.
Symonds had no need to tackle the streaker and he has acted beyond the bounds of reasonableness. Punish Symonds and send a clear message to the cricketing world ... aggressive ego-tripping will not be tolerated, and laws are to be obeyed (even by Aussies).

Is this in any way a subtle signal to the beginning of the gradual decline of Cricket Australia?
by Bazza McKenzie on March 06, 2008
Greg, you hardly know anything about cricket, let alone Australian law, stick to your never ending love letters to Graeme Smith and his team of losers and leave stuff you have no knowledge of alone. The drunken idiot charged at Symonds, he was breaking the law when he did so and Symonds acted in self-defence. Maybe idiots will think twice about pitch invasions in future.

The streaker said he was happy to be shoulder charged by symonds he loved it who cares your days must be so boring you feel the need to write this dribble.

Firstly I am a South African but am a huge fan of the Oz cricket team. They are wonderful entertainers and are hugely talented all rounders. I am thrilled that Andrew took the guy down - my 7 year old son and I watch many matches but thankfully not this one as I would have been horrified if my son had witnessed the streaker in all his glory. Symmo did not revel in his actins or in the cheers of the crowd but merely stood by waiting for the game to begin again. Great going - maybe the would-be streakers will think twice before doing something so idiotic. What about the hundreds of kiddie fans who witnessed that game - they came to witness the game not be subjected to porn. I am sure they consider Andrew to be the hero of the match.

yeah... thats why people prefer living in Alcatraz rather than in San Francisco... 99 % of those that agree with you are THICK just like you, you NUPEE !

Greggy Boy, good news. We will soon be learning from the good people of South Africa. I hear that some Australian Universities have asked for a copy of the course notes put together by your 4 white brothers at the University of the Free State. Apparently the course is guaranteed to foster love, inclusiveness and tolerance in the community. We can only but learn from the Yarpies, because they are the best people in the world.
Sick and thick... yeah... we're all racists... and I'm going to jump up and sing the praises of some johnny knoxville wannabe's !!! go on teddy... ?? no worries tho, we're just sending them into exile, like we've always done, on the first convict ship to Oz, enjoy a dip in your gene pool, you'll probably not notice a thing, you Nupee lot, what a sunny place for shady characters ! Typical tabloid, trashy focus there ted, forget about the million other positives that go on everyday hey ? lets find a nit to pick !
Go on greggy boy, isn't it time for you to head off to war again!
...talking about wars and none existent aussie bravery... Oz has given an apology... when are you giving that land back ? the world most embarrassing large scale theft of land ... Australia ! Talk about professional thievery ! And a blight on all humanity, until... of coarse you give it back !

Greggy boy, it will be returned straight after the Yarpies do it. After all your thieving flea ridden forebears have held their ill-gotten booty for over a hundered years longer than mine.
I looked it up in the dictionary it said. The cuting-down of spear carrying natives, with sub-machine guns.
Drinking XXXX and beating your wife and driving a 3 L Ford ...
... transposing your background onto mine ? I'm an AFRICAN teddy my son, you're an Aussie nupee, new pommy ... I always laugh when I think of the great Aussie Independence Fight ... ie Aussies begging England not to leave them alone ! woooo hooooo hoooo ! You're such a nation of tough guys !!!

Greggy Boy, is again showing his ignorance (when will it ever end?). There was no independence fight, we formed a commonwealth from the individual colonies in 1901. And we have fought wars alongside our allies against evil regimes - Nazi's, Japanese, Boer's, etc. ever since. But the reason that we became an independent country was to divorce ourselves from England. From memory half Yarpieland wanted to support the Nazi's, and opposed support for the allies in WWII. They wanted to keep their troops safe and cosy - so that they could use them to attack spear carrying natives? (they are soooo brave).

"Wake up to yourself". Punish Symonds!!!?? Give him a medal I reckon. Roy reacted, fairly casually but decisively, to a naked man running at him and onto the pitch. He displayed excellent skill, timing and reflexes and did no damage to himself or the streaker but put an abrupt stop to the nonsense. He hasn't made a big fuss about it, he just downed the streaker and then calmly waited for the next delivery.Legendary stuff! What a silly article this is!!

I don't know what I'm thinking, try to educate Aussies... obviously Aussies have an inbred lack of ability with regards to the LAW... we're wasting our breath... just send them to an island on the edge of the planet... maybe they'll figure things out...
Gerggy Boy, keep on plugging away at this dead issue. Otherwise you might have to go to other articles and volunteer your opinions on Yarpie cowardice, and Yarpie choking
yeah, yeah... teddy bear ... helloooo, helloooo, teddy... the great Australian Struggle for Independence... is, ha, ha...only a little joke highlighting Aussie reluctance to part from England ... and YOU with your ALLIED PRIDE confirm this Nupee, 'I'm so happy to be half pommy attitude !' WWII - I'm glad you mention that, here's another example of the Aussies confirming their self-glorifying nature since before 1930... ANZAC hero's and ALL the other great Aussie war-stories... (now think of how quietly & humbly South Africans fought and died in the thousands in many roles for the service of humanity, not just WWI & WWII) In fact, my grandfather could tell you how the Aussies behaved in WWI and my father-in-law, would tell you how they behaved in WWII ... THE AUSTRALIANS ARE THE GREATESTS !!!! woo hoooooooo !!! Not ! Get over yourselves !
