South Africa to target Tendulkar
India's little maestro has a worse batting average against the Proteas than any other Test playing nation. And Graeme Smith and Co believe they have spotted a weakness they can exploit during their forthcoming tour.

I remember watching Sachin Tendulkar at St George's Park and feeling robbed. The little Indian maestro was so out of form I was upset not to get the opportunity to be dazzled by his skill. I then looked at Tendulkar's record and see he has a history of performing well below par against South Africa.

In test matches, the team relies less on Tendulkar of late. There are others like Sehwag, Laxman, Dravid and Ganguly who carry on the mantle. Tendulkar's presence always helps. With others shouldering the burdern, Tendulkar gets all pressure taken off his back and can play freely. And he is in dashing form, playing under pressure against the Aussies in the CB series finals. That must worry the Proteas. But with good bowling on their side, they have a chance to contain the Indian batting. But their own batsmen might feel limited by a vastly improved Indian bowling.

South Africa have had the time to work India out... India's not so impressive win ratio against South Africa is 14-2, I think its going to be 16-3 within 40 days as we show the world how to win in India before the IPL...

SA does have a better record against India. I don't have their performance records in India. However, teams change with time. The current Indian team is high in spirits and might give a different feel to the South African team. I prefer not to predict the final outcome since I do not know how things will play out. But SA will find it hard to run through the Indian team this time.

Dear Greg Smith I think u must be drunk while writing this comment. It would be better if you don't overhype the figures or I should say go and get your stats straight. If matches can be win on the basis of previous records then results of all the series would be predecided and there would be no charm in playing the matches. Think before spitting here your absud thoughts and wait for the matches.

Partha... you're right India has improved... the problem is.... South Africa TOO have stepped up a gear, their improvement at least is equal to that of India, so... its going to be very interesting... time for historic victories for the Proteas in India ?

My point exactly... Boucher is a wicketkeeper and has Tendulkars record... Kallis is a Tendulkar with 300+ wickets !

Sehwag,Jaffer,Dravid,Sachin,Ganguly,Laxman, Dhoni ....and McKenzie,Smith,Amla,Kallis,Prince, AB, Boucher.... dont you think both the teams will easily score 500+ even if the bowling is good. Which is why it is going to be the bowlers who hold the key. Steyn and Ntini for SA and Jumbo Kumble and Bajji for India hold the key. Greg, u need to seriously get some perspective, earlier you compared Botha and Peterson to the Indian spinning duo and now you say Tendulkar is the key to the Indian batting when he has hardly been the crux of the batting recently.

The BCCI isn't going to prepare batsman-friendly pitches... both teams would just bat on and on ... so what's it going to be... a spinners paradise ? A challenging proposition for our quicks ... but they'll bend their backs and Harris and Botha will deliver a couple surprises... mark my words...

It would be a turning point in Harris' carrer if he dominate some of the best playrs of spin in the world,though chances are not too bright.Even Warne couldnt do any thing here.Lets wait and watch..

Where have this numbers come from ? The overall record stands at 4-9 & not 2-9. Take my words Tendulkar overall average will cross 40 against SA after the test series. You don't know the little man as yet. I am sure he has this idea that he averages mediocore against SA & he ll better the records this time for sure. Good luck.
