Smackdown time: Hit-man Harbhajan needs an ICC disciplinary slap
The Indian spinner is in trouble again after allegedly slapping Test team-mate Sri Sreesanth during an IPL match. After allegations of verbal abuse, racial taunts and now a physical attack, it's time for sanctions...

Some people just don’t know when to quit. Not satisfied with getting away with racial taunts against Andrew Symonds, spinner Harbhajan Singh has now decided to physically assault one of his national teammates, Sri Sreesanth, during the Punjab Kings XI defeat of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
This is a classic example of what happens when you ignore a problem. The BCCI has not only condoned Harbhajan’s dreadful behaviour, but has insisted that he had done nothing wrong. They claimed he was being vilified and that he was understood. Now Bhajji has embarrassed the BCCI in their showpiece, the IPL, and the rest of us, are now able to say: “We told you so”.
Harbhajan allegedly delivered a slap to the face of Sreesanth, leaving the fast bowler crying like a schoolgirl. Although that is worthy of some comment – and ridicule – the fact remains that no player should be assaulted like that on the cricket field, or off it for that matter.
Again, however, the PR guys have gone into overdrive, insisting that nothing happened. Sreesanth has claimed that “everything was normal and that nothing untoward happened”. Harbhajan had stated that it was not a slap and was instead “just a push”. Yeah, right.

Hrabhajan has ruined his name in international cricket. There is a limit up to which things can be tolerated. Slapping a player in public is the worst kind of insult and shows lack of sportsmanship. He needs a ban like Shaoib Akhtar is facing so that others do not get tempted to so similar things.

I have just been off to the Times of India website, it is fantastic. The lies that are told in Indian cricket have to be read to be believed. Sreesanth is claiming that Bhajji (who is like a brother to me) didn't slap him, in between 2 articles relating to accounts from Indian cricketers from both teams telling us that it happened but should be forgiven. Symonds was obviously angry when CA and the ICC sold him out to BCCI, but I hope he remains silent on this issue. But Symmo, if anyone ever doubted that Bhajji lied in the hearings in Adelaide they should doubt no more. He is a nasty piece of work.

Harbhajan has been suspended from the IPL indefinately and faces a lenghty ban from indian cricket...Wonder how Miss Big Ted has missed that. To Craig, Law does exist in this country, unlike the farce prison of yours. Even the BCCI, whom i hate completely, have condemned his actions....First off, i dont know why this IPL thing is happening, I dont even feel connected to the team from my city, Deccan Chargers... Though fair play to the Aussie cricketers, they have shown some real spirit, unlike the general Aussie public, and have won over the masses here by the way they have carried themselves in those wierd looking uniforms, even though they are in it only for the money.
Sorry about the indefinately thing, temporarily suspended I read....He would be playing agaist us then, Hope big Symonds hits for a fair few...I really hope Sreesanth and Harbhajan are shown the door out of indian cricket...they deserve to be playing 'gullie' cricket.

Sri Sreesanth should be suspended for crying that was pathetic.

What in my article was racist. I was criticising an individual who has courted controversy for his entire career. He happens to be Indian, but that is not why I have criticised him. The last thing that I had a crack at was the IPL, which you have have done yourself in your comment. As for your comment about law existing, it only works if all of the evidence goes before the courts and honesty prevails. Because Harbhajan has embarrassed the BCCI this time, he might find it more difficult to explain it all away like his did down here. As for the prison comment, now that is a racist remark. There is an old saying about people in glass houses, perhaps you've heard it. Best wishes - Kermit.
Rahul last time I looked, your claim of an indefinite ban for Habajahan does not seem to be the truth. He has got a temporary suspension until Monday's hearing. How does indefinite = 3 days? However I do agree that the IPL is of only of passing interest. Your comment on the spirit of the general aussie public, is puzzling, I actually don't know what your referring to, but truthfully cannot be bothered to find out.

Nice censorship Sportingo, what was the problem?, that I think Roebuck is a fool, or because I think that his Sikh warrioir (Habahajan) is a digraceful and nasy piece of works?

bhajji was provoked to do the act so that he could be banned from further IPL matches and also would loose the high fee paid by mumbai indians team
by parambir singh on April 29, 2008
when harbhajan was captaining mumbai indians and who by all accounts is a mild and fun loving person was so provoked by his team mate which hurt bhaji's ego so much that he had to do what he did under duress, why was shrisant not penalised a single IPL match which does seem unfair
