Magical Murali could elbow his way into the England Test team, that's for sure!
Muttiah Muralitharan may have a controversial bowling action - but Sportingo writer Chris Goldsmith laments that the wizard of spin just happened to be Sri Lankan rather than English.

An English Test side should only have room for English players, right? Of course! However, there is no harm in dreaming, is there? That's why my pick for the player from another country who I would most like in England's team is Muttiah Muralitharan. The diminutive Sri Lankan spin bowler is a true phenomenon in the sport of cricket. He has taken the most wickets ever in Test matches, overtaking Shane Warne not so long ago - and doesn't he deserve it?
Never before in the history of cricket has one man's elbow been the centre of so much controversy. Murali has had to explain his strange bowling action on many ocassions but he is certainly a cricketing legend and his record number of Test victims will not be beaten in the near future, that's for sure.
He's still one of the world's greatest bowlers and although out with a shoulder injury at the moment, will be back to continue breaking his own records and destroy batting line-ups across the world.
Murali was born with a slightly deformed elbow, and so he bowls without straightening his whole arm, no matter how hard he tries. Therefore his deliveries are different to your average off-spinner. Instead of using his fingers to turn the ball, he uses his whole body to get that extra 'spin' he needs to put his opponents in trouble at the crease.

Quite simple really - get all those rich English persons in partnership with the MCC to bankroll their own 20/20 league like the Indians have. And then mix in all those young county players (I"m assuming they are often younger than the national lot) and international stars like Murali... subject to their national obligations, most Cricketers would be delighted to have such fun on the UK's stunning Cricket Grounds.
