IPL had everything, great cricket, a terrific final and closing ceremony, top Bollywood performers, superstars and 60,000 fans.

The final was watched by around one billion people in 122 countries. IPL chairman Lalit Modi thanked everyone except the cricketers, an interesting omission as the ICC Twenty20 champions were the central catalyst behind IPL's success.

Prior to last year's championship just after the World Cup, a Twenty20 cricket league was organied by BCCI, which got a cold response from the public in spite of all the Indian stars involved.

'The find of the tournament was Yusuf Pathan of the Royals'

Even the Twenty20 international between Asia and Africa in Chennai could not fill the stadium and this is further evidence of how important the presence of Indian players really has been for IPL. So next time, Mr Modi, make sure you remember to mention the main actors.

The final was deservedly won by the Rajhastan Royals - but MS Dhoni's team were a close second.

Amid all the hyperbole, one man shone with both bat and ball, taking three wickets and making a match-winning 56. The find of the tournament was Yusuf Pathan of the Royals.

And after the amazing finish by the Royals to reach 163, we were treated to a great closing ceremony including the Orange Cap to Shaun Marsh for most runs and a Purple Cap for Sohail Tanvir most wickets.

Shane Watson deservedly bagged Man of the Series and how fitting the brilliant Shane Warne led the Royals to victory.
