Shane Watson is a serious doubt for the first  Ashes Test against England. The Australian all-rounder has a hamstring injury, which has not responded as well as was hoped to treatment. His training has been severely restricted.

It was an interesting selection decision choosing Watson in the first place. The normal make-up for an Australian team is six batsmen and four bowlers - choosing Watson was a move away from this. Should he not play then Michael Clarke will probably fill his place.

I feel Australia would have been better served choosing Clarke in the first place. Admittedly he has struggled a bit in the Test arena of late but I feel this series could see him come of age.  Watson has not set the world on fire in his previous three Tests and while his form was excellent in the recent Champions Trophy tournament, Test cricket is a completely different ball game.
