Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of the Indian cricket team for the one-day internationals and Twenty20 matches, is considered to be one of the 'coolest' skippers in the cricketing fraternity. Captaining India is one of the toughest jobs - Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid have all quit the role and refused repeated offers.

But Dhoni actually blossoms in his latest avatar, conquering  the ICC Twenty20 championship in the very first tenure, conquering the Aussies in their own domain, hammering Pakistan in home games and even leading Chennai Super Kings to  the IPL final.

Sourav Ganguly could have been successful but he is not in his prime as regards captaincy. Now Dhoni leads the youngest team in the world, where the average age of the players is 22 and all of them are immensely talented. Gautam Gambhir is consistently getting runs, Verinder Shewag, Yuvraj Singh, Dhoni and Rohit Sharma can whack the ball at will, Ishant, RP Singh and Irfan are getting wickets and the find of the IPL, Yousuf Pathan, can be furious with the bat and handy with the ball.

Dhoni is currently the most marketable sport star in India, surpassing even the maestro [Tendulkar] himself. Dhoni`s team is best equipped to dominate the 2011 World Cup as  his young brigade will be a brand of mature stars by then. With the huge surge in popularity of Twenty 20 cricket, ODIs are bound to be scrutinised (Adam Gilchrist, Rahul Dravid and Kevin Pietersen have made comments about ODIs).

The future could see high-profile ICC 50-over tournaments backed up by Twenty20 series to entertain people after hard-fought Test series. Tendulkar is by no means out of the picture. He should be really selective and play only Test cricket, important ODI tournaments and Twenty20 here and there. His availability would boast Dhoni`s young corps  to be true world beaters.
