...but you'e right to compare it to the other big races, particularly after 7 straight victories from Lance made it a bit of a procession. Last year was a little better because of Landis losing and gaining time (how could that happen!?!), but the point you make about the route is a good one. I think apart from a few key stages with big climbs the Vuelta can't rally compare, and even the Spaniards are losing interest with its endless flat stages. The Giro is for me the most exciting, romantic and challenging of all three Grand Tours. Every year the route seems to be more exciting than the last, and the racing is aggressive. I hope for a more open Tour this year, and for no pre-race doping news - I worry now that cycling's 'men in black' are waiting in the wings to spoil the party...

Le Tour is the Greatest Annual Sporting event. Period.
