At the end of March the World Track Cycling Championships took place on home soil in Manchester.
Great Britain has always had its fair share of success in the sport of cycling - just think back to Chris Boardman in he Barcelona Olympics - but in Manchester the Britsh team had their most successful championships yet and impressively finished top of the medals table by a long way.
The team managed a brilliant nine gold medals while nearest rivals the Netherlands took just three. It was a superb team performance from the British men and women as success at the start of the championships seamed to rub off on the other cyclists throughout the rest of the week.
Finally Britain can say it is the best in the world in track cycling. Let's hope it can continue into the Olympics this year and, more importantly, lead to success in London 2012.
