Hi my fellow Gooners,
It's that time of the year again - the Premier League has begun and we won our opening match. I read a lot of journos' articles criticising us for or performance against West Brom. It's the same old Arsenal - can't convert all those chances we create.
Then Manchester United got held 1-1 by Newcastle at Old Trafford so all those journos can go and f*** themselves. Who cares? We won and that's all that matters. Just like the match against FC Twente, it was not pretty... but we won.
Samir Nasri really looks good and to be honest, I will not miss Aleksandr Hleb. This is our year with Theo Walcott, Carlos Vela, a fit Robin van Persie and I really see Nicklas Bendtner coming to the party.
We will be good on the ground and in the air. As for my feelings towards Emmanuel Adebayor, the jury is still out on him. I have no time for a dude who is a greedy mofo. Yes, he scores goals but he's also selfish and misses a ton of chances. If he gets his attitude right he could score a lot more.
If we manage to sign Mikael Silvestre from Manchester United, I think it will be a good thing seeing the amount of experience he would bring to our young squad. And with the prospect of another signing coming in, I would say all is good.
So, my fellow Gooners, trust in Arsene Wenger and ttrust in our squad. This is Gooner be a great season!
Gooner for life.

Great article m8 :D Glad to see a optimistic Arsenal blogger unlike most of the people who are way to pessimistic. Although im not exactly predicting we will deff win the league im sure we will challenge and may end up winning it.

Theo has a lot to prove this year, his 1st touch is still poor, Bendtner again is not good enough. Vela we just do not know enough about at the moment. On the positive Nasri looks great and Eboue did very well in centre Midfield and could be a good foil for Cesc. The man from Man U could be OK certainly better than Senderous who is not a premiership player

I think Adebayor will go next season, but I guess football's becoming like that now. It's good to see Wenger going for an experienced player in our area of weakness, defence. Realistically, how else are our defence going to stop Berbatov, Ronaldo and Rooney and Torres and Keane? All Wenger needs now is an exceptional goalie and if Adebayor does leave next season, all we'll need to think about next season is what striker would be good enough to replace him. Back in the good old days when we had Winterburn, Adams, Bould, Keown, Dixon and Seaman, no-one was that worried about the defence except about their age. Now things are a little bit more worrying coz of Senderos and Almulnia being less than average and average respectively. It need tightening.

This morning has seen a flurry of emotions at the news of the imminent signing of Mikael Silvestre. According to some sources, he signed at Highbury House 10.45am this morning following a medical. Due to this development, vaguely also picked up by various frontline newspapers, Arsenal fans have shown a mixture of gladness and disdain. Some say he is a "Man Utd reject", some say " he is another sick note" and some even doubt his qualities. My question to Arsenal fans is this: Are we better off with a defender coming in for £0.75m or not? Imagine this player was an unknown defender (lets call him Zrykanic), what would Arsenal fans be saying? Everyone would be calling for Wenger's head for lacking ambition. Whilst there might be mileage in Silvestre's fitness and positioning, I think most fans are simply missing the point. Last week I moaned about Wenger not strengthening at all in defence as he promised earlier in the week. Now if Clichy is injured, Silvestre will be available to shoe in when we need to. He can across the defence line and I'm confident this is a value player, not necessarily a big name player. His best days may have departed him but I believe he can still do a clean job in the Arsenal squad. Last season, the problem was the lack of depth in the side. I will not be complaining at all about this signing.

I agree with you, but not your reasoning. Arsenal will win this season because they are better than they were last year, and last year they were very close, only four points off thanks to a slump when ALL their left-side scoring threats were sidelined. Why are they better? Because they are young. They are improving. Theo, Djourou, Bendnter, Denilson, Traore, Senderos, Cesc, Diaby, Song..its a long list of 19-21 year olds. They all contributed last year, and should all contribute more this year. They will run opponents into the ground. Pace will rule! And remember, last year, Arsenal were four points shy of the title, scored and defended like the Invincibles, and only lost three games. On defense, they were better at home than the Invincibles. This team is very very close! As for the losses, only Flamini matters, and his biggest attributes were his work rate and his aggression, qualities that are not that hard to find. As for scoring, it will be Adebayor again as the anchor. He is brilliant; not wasteful as all his critics say -- a far better shooter and scorer than Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, or Keane last year -- his only equals were Berbatov, Torres and Santa Cruz. Talk about wasteful? Look at Man U's vaunted strike force. Hleb was non-offensive in an offensive role; good riddance. Nasri can only be better, and, since he's young, he will improve, which Hleb will not. As for depth, I look forward to one or two more signings, and the return of injured attackers, but this squad has depth already -- isn't that what you call it when you beat FCTwente and WBA with largely a second-string squad? As for the opposition, I suspect Chelsea will be the toughest this year...

I`m very optimist with arsenal this year too. I just have to say that i like as Adebayor plays and i know that he is necessary to the Arsenal's formation and Wenger will find the best position for him in this young team. And i see that Arsenal can play without some of the titular players, not as man u that needs to have C. Ronaldo to play it best.
