4. Pablo Zabaleta: Manchester City man was shown red for a horrendous tackle on Liverpool's Xabi Alonso. It arguably cost his side the match - City were 2-1 up with 25 minutes to go before the incident but ended up 3-2 losers.
3. Arsenal: Blushes were spared when Cesc Fabregas equalised against Sunderland in the dying seconds. They didn’t play well at all and really need to raise their game if they want to battle for the title. Fixtures like this one have to be won if they really want to put up a fight.
2. Tottenham: Another surprise defeat... or was it really? Spurs continued their dismal start to the campaign with a home loss to Hull City. Surely this can’t continue much longer.
1. Robert Green: The West Ham keeper made a terrible blunder dropping a comfortable take at Kevin Davies’ feet to cost his side the opening goal. Arguably could have done better with Gretar Steinsson’s shot but spilled it, allowing Gary Cahill to capitalise and put Bolton in control.
HEROES
5. Newcastle: Might have only got a single point, but at least they showed some courage and resilience as they came back from two goals down against Everton. It seems caretaker boss Joe Kinnear was able to inspire the Toon Army.
4. Wayne Rooney: Scored one and assisted one, inspiring Manchester United to a comfortable win. Really looks in good form, much to the joy of everyone concerned with United and England.
3. Geovanni and Hull City: Hull did it again - and Geovanni was the star man once again. Scored a scorcher of a free-kick to take the Tigers into the top three of the Premier League. Who would have scripted that one?
2. Grant Leadbitter: Hats off to the young lad. Scored an absolute cracker for Sunderland late on against Arsenal, just five minutes after coming on as a sub. Unfortunately for him, though, it didn’t prove to be the winner with Fabregas salvaging a point for the Gunners in the dying seconds. Nevertheless, it’s a goal he’ll surely remember for a long time.
1. Fernando Torres : Shades of Istanbul were seen at the Eastlands as Liverpool came back from two goals down to come away with a 3-2 win against Man City - thanks in large part to Torres who scored twice and assisted the third. The Reds really showed how much they want the title this year with a display of real courage and determination.
