It has been confirmed that Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich have agreed a fee to sign the highly-talented Croatian striker Ivica Olic from FC Hamburg on a free transfer. This all but fuels speculation of a possible transfer of Lukas Podolski to either Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City.

Podolski, who has become rather agitated lately due to a lack of playing time, has admitted his desire to play abroad - for 'footballing reasons' only. Tottenham have been long-term admirers of the skilful striker, who has also had a profound impression on the world stage, most recently at the Euro 2008 tournament.

Spurs are currently lacking as far as strikers are concerned; thus Harry Redknapp may be tempted in doing business, especially after the setback to the fitness of Darren Bent, who is believed to have torn his groin.

I believe Podolski has a playing style that is already suited to the physicality of the English game, so any settling-in phases should not be a problem if any move for him were to go ahead.

It is believed that a bid of approximately £10-12 million would secure his services, and with the current form of Roman Pavlyuchenko at an all-time high, a partnership between these two players would be an attractive proposition.

It is certain that Spurs would be able to offer Podolski the playing time he wants, and I am certain he will be a hit at White Hart Lane. Or will Harry Redknapp pursue his interest in Bordeaux's Argentinian hitman Fernando Cavenaghi?
