Whenever a significant story breaks in the world of football, everyone is asked for their opinion on it.

It was the case when Kaka nearly moved to Manchester City back in January. This is what links the majority of journalism and football – opinion.

Interest has certainly been high in the news that Alan Shearer has been named as Newcastle United's boss until the end of the season. A true legend is now in charge of ensuring that his beloved club avoid relegation. They sit in the relegation zone right now, so it is going to be one of the biggest challenges of the former striker’s career.

The "one game at a time" notion will probably be used a lot by those involved and this means that all the initial focus must be on the game against Chelsea at St James’ Park this weekend. The home fans are likely to be louder than ever and the players will probably be more motivated than ever as they search for three crucial points.

Guus Hiddink’s men will by no means be sticking to the Newcastle United scripts, though. They will be out to ensure that Shearer’s task is made all the more difficult. However, two of their most significant players have wished the former England man all the best in the role - even if it doesn’t get off to the greatest start.

Frank Lampard is a huge admirer of what Shearer achieved as a player and has admitted that the game this weekend will be "a lot harder" now that the Tyneside legend has been appointed. The Chelsea midfielder recognises that Shearer is considered a god in Newcastle and that the atmosphere could have a very significant impact on the game.

John Terry has also had his say on the appointment. The England captain believes Shearer’s involvement in the management set-up will give everyone at the club a massive lift. However, Terry knows that Chelsea need the points themselves, meaning that they are looking to "upset him (Shearer) in his first game."

Something that cannot be doubted is that the game between Newcastle and Chelsea is now the most exciting in the Premier League this weekend. It has all the ingredients to be a cracker – both teams need the points, both sets of players will be in determined mood, the atmosphere will be extraordinary and there is an England legend managing his first-ever game. Don't think it is a safe football bet to back Chelsea in this one.

Any chance Sky Sports can change their scheduling this weekend? I don’t think many people will moan if this clash replaces Blackburn v Tottenham on our screens!
