It would be a break with tradition to appoint a continental manager at West Ham. They've only had 10 managers in their entire 105 year history and the closest they got to a foreigner was Lou Macari!

Shep, you've got a point there. Tradition should play a big part in the appointment of a new manager for West Ham. It would definately be a mistake to name Graham or Venables though. However a continental manager, with a traditon in developing youth players, should not be ruled out, as it coincides with some of West Ham best traditions. I say Hiddink and Hitzfeldt both have that. Curbs is the best English manager available at the moment though, and has West Ham in him.

Reo c. sulked all season after not getting a transfer. The big clubs won't want him now. Ferdi now believes that he is too good to make a physical challenge. Players should take alot of the blame.
Of course it's the players, Reo c. isn't wanted anymore. But realistically you cant sack the team, you then need to get a new manager who can rally them together or smash some heads in if needed. Their current status is then both because of players, and the inability of the manager.

Harry Redknapp.. would be great with a batch of new cash. I don't see a foreign manager fitting here.

Some interesting opinions there. It'd certainly be very interesting to see what Harry Redknapp would do with such a large amount of money at his disposal. Back in 2000, he helped them reach 9th in the Premiership with hardly any money at all... I think the January transfer window would be an ideal chance not only for West Ham to buy new players but to sell a few. Reo-Coker, as has been said, isn't the player he once was, Dailly was not the best of players when we first bought him and Pantsil looks sub-standard too. At least Robert Green's doing an excellent job at the back and with various others still having the potential to do well, it might just need a new manager with new ideas and inspiration to get things pointing in the right direction again.

I would go for Harry Redknapp as well .. he has a feel for the club and the Hammers need to stay true to their spirit.
Harry of course would be precious, but I didn't even think of mentioning him, as he is doing good at Portsmouth, and has reasonable cash at his disposal so he would probably not be tempted to come at this point in time. Luv Harry though, and he sure can cope.

Go for Glenn Hoddle!!!
by Matt Canon on December 13, 2006
Hoddle is too wierd for us. I don't see Curbishley really turning things around.. it's likely to be more of the same. He could save us from going down but I don't see him building a new future. We need a real visionary someone who can take the club to the highest heights not a grafter.
