I don't know about you but I am fed up with the speculation about several players leaving and several others joining Tottenham Hotspur.
Every season is the same - Spurs are linked with big big names that turn into nothing. Therefore I have written down a few deals that the club should really focus on - then get them done.
The players I agree should go are Darren Bent, Roman Pavyluchenko, David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas and Didier Zokora.
And the three we should get are Ashley Young, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Gabriel Heinze.
Spurs could easily get £12 million for Bent and the same again for Pavyluchenko, plus another £6m for Zokora. That would give them £30m to spend, SO...
Make Aston Villa an offer they should not refuse, like... Jenas to replace Gareth Barry and Bentley to replace Young. And throw in £4m to sweeten the deal to land Ashley.
Then splash out at Real Madrid for Huntelaar, regardless of wages and such nonsense - give them around £20m for Huntelaar and £6m for Heinze.
This would give Harry Redknapp so much threat from both wings and a strike force that can actually finish the job. Huntelaar, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe with Giovani Dos Santos getting regular games in the mixture of fixtures.
Enough said.

Jenas and Bentley are worth more than Ashley Young, let alone adding another 4mil. Even if Young has had a good season there is no garuntee he can repeat his performance (didn't Bentley have a great two years back?). In anycase i'm glad you're not incharge of the the spurs transfer expenses.

Heinze for 6 million!!! Jesus! Do not agree about letting Pavlova leave... a man deserves at least two season!

Yeah right! and I should trade my 9 year old Ford Mondeo, the contents of the garden shed and a handful of pocket fluff for a Bugatti Veron..... Get real, none of Young, Huntalaar or Heinze will come to Spurs, they are upper echelon players not likely interested in playing mid-table mediocracy and a run at the Fizzy pop cup!

here was me thinking someone might have something useful to add to the melting pot of opinions..HOWEVER...do you not just state we are constantly linked with players that will never come to spurs and you hate it...and then immediately mention three players whom will never never NEVER where the lilywhite of tottenham??!! what a joker..if you write articles for a living and actually get paid for it..i'm gonna be an astronaut! i might wait til kaka and ronaldo do a u turn and come to white hart lane first.
and dos santos behind keane defoe and huntelaar?? and modric will be playing where exactly?? oh yes in goal i suppose...

Plenty of players started off at Tottenham playing badly after large scale transfers and then settled down in Season 2. Pavlichenko played well in parts, couldn't speak English but it was his first season outside Russia; at times he looked like a class player. Bentley may have an attitude problem but he didn't seem to at Blackburn and like Pavlichenko, it's his first season. He looked outstanding at Blackburn. Is it him or is it his managers? Bent has one of the best goal:minutes ratio in the league. I think he's an important substitute - probably not great for starting - but you have to replace him with someone who is going to give that kind of return which is clearly not as easy as many Spurs fans seem to think. Jermaine Jenas looks to be too inconsistent and has now been at the club long enough that maybe he is more sensible to ship out, for both his sake and the club's. Zokora was highly rated by Ramos, Jol liked him as well. He always looked okay but way off the kind of qualities of a Vierra or a Roy Keane. Wilson Palacios appears a more thoughtful and more able player and with him installed it seems sensible to free up funds by shipping Zokora out of the club. Of course, if Harry Redknapp really doesn't rate any of these players, then without the Manager's confidence then they should leave. The evidence is that Pavlichenko and Bentley come into that category which is a shame. The replacement names I have seen so far hardly fill me with confidence - all the classy names are either going to or staying in Spain or Italy or heading for Manchester City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Maybe some stability rather than a merry-go-round might help the team be a team and deliver something and maintain our position in the Top 8. Ambitions have to be limited until Levy sells to someone with more available cash.
I meant to point out that Martin Peters and Chris Waddle are examples of players who didn't start so well and in the modern era would have been shipped out much more quickly - maybe Ricky Villa as well. And what mistakes those would have been.

I agree spurs need a big clear-out and Bent, Pavyluchenko, bentley, zakora, gilberto, boateng, chimbonda, tarbet, o'hara along with gunter should all leave. if anybodies stupid enough to pay more than £10 million for bent spurs should bite their arm off (he wasnt worth that when spurs bought him). Also lets be realistic Villa are not going to swap Ashley Young for bentley and jenas unless martin o'neil has been taking happy tablets. Hunterlaar would not completement defoe or keane either. I think we should buy E.Gudjohnson (wants first team football, J.Cole (only 12 months left on his contract, Heinze, cattermole, viduka (free transfer) and Carvalho (he probably wouldnt sign mind. spurs need hard players, i couldnt face another season of the spurs being bullied.

What a daft article. Focus thier efforts on those three and all will come good? They have about a 1 in 10 chance of landing any of those three players making a 1 in 1000 chance of landing all three. What you are suggesting is absolute lunacy. The whole reason Spurs get linked to so many players as they are realistically going to land a small proportion of the ones they are targeting. Do you think those players are sitting on the shelf with no other big clubs interested?

Therin lies the problem at our place, it's the idiots who have no patience or idea about football. Lets look at a couple of facts firstly. Bentley and Pav are both in their first season with us, in both case's they've played constant football, moved to a different enviroment and has had to adapt to both cultural and language changes, it may have been easier for Bentley as it was a case of reacclmatizing after his time up north, but for Pav it's a different story altogether. Give them time and then judge, no more kneejerking. If Zokora or Bent were to leave, so be it, but Huddlestone and Jenas should be given a good run in side. Good teams dont always have the best players do they?, and good teams take time to blend, it doesnt happen overnight. For the record if you dont like the new kit, dont buy it..simples!

i have to agree with most players that have been posted regarding the exit door at white hart lane? except for pava? i feel he has to have that settling down period? let's not forget where the russian league start's our's just about end's? so the player has not rested or had a pre season for around three seasons now i for one think his movement and goals per game ratio is better than keanes? im not the only one who thinks this.
by ben dover on June 28, 2009
Harry u idiot.....u`ll regret to let pav go. Get rid of keane instead
Getting rid of Keane is also nonsensical. He went to Anfield with high hopes, actually played okay but didn't get the support of his coach as he was really recruited by Parry.... so he left and went back to Tottenham where he became team captain and Spurs climbed the league. He didn't play his best football but the team improved. But Keane has had poor patches in other seasons as well. Most players do. You can't just chop and change because someone is a bit out of form. Keane was still an important contributor in ways that may not be so obvious to those of us outside the dressing room but are obvious to his coach who wants a leader in the squad. More obvious to leave is Chimpbonda as he has never come across as a great team man (see Wigan as well as Spurs and Sunderland). Malbranque would have been the better returning player as at least he could have played on the left and given more much needed balance. Best of all on the left would be Tony Galvin but I guess that being in his early 50s he probably isn't quite the player he was under Burkinshaw (look at him setting up Ricky Villa for THAT goal at the 1981 Cup Final); on the other hand, he read Russian at University and he could be quite potent if he tied up with Pavlichenko - at least there would be someone in the side who could tell Pavlichenko what was going on.
I understand the fact that these players will proberbly not join tottenham but the article states that the deals can land spurs the jackpot not will land them, obviously though with young and lennon an the wings providing for the likes of Huntleear and defoe with modric in the middle, they would have a better season than previous years, The dumb ass who thinks the article actually meant playing all the strikers at once is obvioully not familiar with foot ball and the need and use of multiple strikers, the deal in essenceis correct whether it will happen...??????

Ok some of the comments here are warrented about the fact of us siging some of the above mentioned is not realistic. However i dont think that getting young or heinze is that unrealistic, martin o'neill requires more players for his midfield and giving him jenas or huddlestone who is blatently leaving and maybe bentley who he thinks he could make good of he may give us young. heinze isnt impossible hes 32 years old maybe another fling in the PL would suit him. Lets be honest here the only way spurs can break into the top 4-6 permanently is to start buying world class players, although people think we arent capable of doing i think we are. with harry there now as well i definately think even with tier 2 players (players below the ultimate top class) he could make spurs into a 4-6 team. look at our home record last season all that really needs improving is the away record and as someone else mentioned we need another 1/2 like wilson tough and good workers. all of our opinions mean nothing if harry doesnt think they suit his plans then how can he keep them. its obvious the team he wants is pacey tough and fit, ie lennon defoe wilson woody dawson corluka etc. let him buy and sell who he likes and i bet and i mean it he will have an awesome season next year. also who thinks jamie or les will take over from him??????

Well written, well said, I'm sick of mediocre signings giving mediocre performances. If we want to live up to our expectancies and history, It's time we got serious in the transfer market and landed the type of players that can take us to where we want to be. If that means spending more than we did mid season last window, then so be it. We seem to be losing our attraction as a top flight club already, and unless we recruit top shelf, we can't expect to be regarded as top shelf
by david smith on June 28, 2009
Lets get real and i dont meen there players we cant break into the top 4 and the moral of this adveture is when everton got into the top 4 they kept a settled side that played has a team and won a lot of games one nil .We need to stop playing strangers every season city will need a settling in period somthing that you cant afford to do so if we keep all our squad and sell maybe one or two players like zokora chimbonda boteng and loan a few out we will stand a chance what done villa whas lack of depth and midfield creativety .we have all this in place and players like dosantos bale pav bent bently hudds will benifit from another season with a better start
by clarkie yid on June 28, 2009
pav is shit! end of he dosn't have the ability to play in the PL. Hes too weak and cant speak a word of engilsh! Guys am i the only spurs fan on this planet that thinks we have one of the best left midfielders in the world and dosn't play! DOS SANTOS is a class class player.. so why dosnt he play! And also if Spurs are going to buy anyone Joe Cole should be our man. Class act and as said earlier 12 months left on his contract and read today he wants to leave. he prop wouldnt sign but o well lets try, hes the type of player us Yids need to crack the top 4 and knock thos Assholes down and out!

Are you looking forward to your 10th birthday? Jesus wept, first of all Villa have been dealt suckerpunches from the sale of Gareth Barry and the forced retirement of Martin Laursen. This, in my humble and honest opinion leaves Ashley Young as their best outfield player, certainly their biggest threat going forward. They will not sell. Secondly, I don't care what anyone says, along with Palacios, Jenas is our best central midfielder. It's not a coincidence that Jol, Ramos and Redknapp all play him when he's fit. So, if we chuck Jenas into the deal, who will replace him? Could argue Modric, though you could argue he was much more effective out on the left and a bit lightweight in the middle especially away from home. So what happens to him if Young comes in? We chuck Bentley into the mix, how exactly is he a replacement for Young? He's s**te on the left and never plays there. As for Huntelaar, god its just drivel what you're saying. I agree we should go for him because if you don't try you don't know, but you can't sign someone regardless of cost and wages....otherwise we would attempt to sign everyone. Not only that, but why do you think he'd come to us ahead of the likes of United and possibly Arsenal who are both linked with Hunter (especially as United are losing the race for Benzema, Arsenal look to be selling Adebayor). Heinze may join us, but there are fitness concerns, wage concerns all of which tell me to stay away!
Guus Hiddink holds Pavlychenko in very high regard and wanted to take him to Chelsea; just because he hasn't adjusted so far doesn't mean that he isn't a high class player. I don't want to insult you but I'd rather accept Hiddink's view, especially given the players I have seen look inadequate early on at Spurs and then look outstanding later on. However, your comment on Dos Santos is well taken - if he can do it for Barcelona and Mexico then I find it incomprehensible that he cannot be highly regarded at Spurs.

Totally agree with your players for the exit door, lets hope the one's coming in are of a higher standard!
by Chris Caruth on June 28, 2009
Come on we all know that Barry's gone to Citea" What planet ru on? Young would be a fine aquisition but not for Jenas, Bentley + cash theres no guarentees he would settle...
by hotspur22 on June 28, 2009
totally agree with the comment made earlier that spurs should look to bring in joe cole, eidur gudjohnsen, cattermole, viduka and heinze. They would complement the current playing squad. We don't need hunterlaar, he couldnt play with defore or keane. whatever spurs do lets hope they don't sign downing! it's going to be an exciting few weeks ahead.
by Giz on June 29, 2009
Go back to playing Football Manager, because only there is it that easy to swap players and chuck in a few 'sweetners' as you suggest. We don't need Heinze and Huntelaar will not come. For me it's a choice between Crouch and Downing or what we have already. Stick with what we have, it did ok for us from Jan to May.
by ROB NASH on June 29, 2009
Peter crouch ex spurs back in the day would be ideal to partner either defoe or Keano Joe cole Ideal left sided player would be tempted to work with harry again Im sure
by vincent tan on June 29, 2009
hmmm, why can't everyone stays, maybe not gilberto....

why would Villa accept a deal involving a swap for a left sided player, Young, (yes i know he's right footed, but he's played all his career on the left)for a right sided player, Bentley???? let alone the fact that Young was named PFA young player of the year and lets just say Bentley didn't have the best of seasons AND they have Milner, one of the best players for England U21 already playing on their right??? And when Jenas and Zokora leave who do you propose makes up our CM squad? Palacios and Thudd going to do it for us all season??? without suspension or injury? get a grip man!! we're all waiting for news but think things through will you pls! cheers
