Much has been said and written about Cristiano Ronaldo's ridiculous £80m transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
Sad to say, money rules and is being seen to be the root of all evil.
That's what's happening in football at the very top level, and life in general - and people and the world are a lot worse for it.
This author believes that you do NOT need money at all. Water comes out of the sky and you can get enough to eat out of the ground and all around you. Just open your eyes.
In the throwaway society in which we live in the United Kingdom, no-one need starve if you aren't too choosy. Enough food gets discarded by companies and the general public to sustain several armies. Why do you think the poor people in the world are flocking to Britain in their droves?
We have always followed the Americans like sheep. They baled us out in two world wars, for God's sake, and now we are becoming a second America in a big, big way - and it's sickening!
When people become more concerned with government ministers fiddling expenses than the world's real problems, there is no hope for anyone, is there?
Ronaldo's ridiculous transfer fee and Samuel Eto'o's astronomical pay demands being met by Manchester City merely underline the greedy world in which we live.

Why does the Europeans always some how have to make a dig at the USA? You all make your own bad discussions. We didn't show you the way. Look back at your own history and we weren't even a country yet. If anything we followed you. It's bad enough we do make some pretty piss pore discussions but we do not blame anyone else for them. Take responsibility, PLEASE! Tracy Las Vegas, Nevada USA

This must be one of the poorest articles I have ever read. The writer has just blurted out a opinion with nothing back up his claims what so ever. Then he has to put Manchester City in his headline, so now not only are we ruining football were ruining the whole of the UK economy as well, and its Manchester City fault for all of the immigrants heading for the UK. At least we are spending are own money and not having to borrow it. So get a life mate and grow up.

Correction! Not your money mate it's the Arabs and they will piss off as fast as they arrived if they don't get all that land to develop around Eastlands! The transfer cash is mere chicken feed to them and Hughes has been told he can spend as much as he wants. Remember! This is Manchester City - something's BOUND to go wrong!!!!

You cannot reverse the effects of several cultural shifts leading up to the industrial revolution, let alone what's happened during and since, ie. the rapid growth of humanity and its move from rural to urban. These effects are not only recorded in the easier spread of disease, but also in the easier achievement of collateral. There is an adjustment on the way, possibly in terms of a pandemic, or perhaps related to climate change. Would you be blaming Manchester City for that? Think about it, when the first real pandemic (plague) hit northern Europe in the 14th century, it changed the world. Up to 50% of the population died. The effects of this were that serfdom (slavery) was no longer possible because people demanded wages!! Obviously, City were to blame for this as well. What we have now is chaos, where no one really knows what's really happening, and cacaphony, where no one can hear the voices because of the racket. A correction will come. At that point, there may be lots of Kaka.. hitting all the fans..
