The move towards a real European Super League has started with PSV and Feyenoord's bid to start a North Europe section. It's a concept that could well give Celtic and Rangers a window into the big time, too.

I also find the rehashed idea of inducting the Old Firm into the English league a good one. It would suit all parties - even if the Glasgow giants have to start in the Coca-Cola Championship or even lower.

They would soon find their level, probably in the Championship initially, and their fans would be treated to interesting trips south every other week.

They would still be able to play their home games at Ibrox and Parkhead and I see no reason why they should not attract even more lucrative sponsorship contracts as they grow in their new environment.

The Dutch idea may be their opening route as we Brits are notoriously slow to latch onto anything new - and Celtic and Rangers have been trying to join us down here for about a million years already, haven't they?

The Scottish FA should stay cool and the international governing bodies back down on the imagined threat of taking away our national teams and just leaving us with a Great Britain outfit if all the above should happen.

It is all good and I can't wait to see my second favourite team competing against our top sides down here and, who knows, maybe eventually in that European Super League as well.

They need to grow away from the stifling Scottish set-up. They have nowhere else to go once they have won the SPL a few times and it would give the other Scottish sides a chance to pick up a few more titles and a bit of silverware.

Bring it on!
