1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9! Amazingly nine goals in one game for Spurs. Nobody expected them to perform such a feat.

Wigan did manage to manage to grab one consolation goal, albeit controversially, as the ball seemed to bounce off Paul Scharner's hand before he scored.

They might even have been thinking of making a game of it as it came just after Tottenham's first three goals, but things only got worse for them as Spurs went on a scoring spree.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez was in a shameful position as his team were torn to shreds throughout the whole match. And how Spurs fans celebrated as every goal went in.

Three players deserve special recognition, namely Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon, and Peter Crouch. They gave a display reminiscent of the way that Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo played with Manchester United in their pomp.

Crouch scored the only goal of the first half before Defoe went on the rampage with FIVE in 36 second half minutes.

Lennon got in on the act before David Bentley's free-kick was turned into his own net by goalkeeper Chris Kirkland and Nico Kranjcar rounded off an agonising and miserable afternoon for Wigan.

Obviously though, one man was heavily praised, and he was not on the field but on the bench. It was manager Harry Redknapp, and Spurs fans are actually beginning to feel the rush with the possibility of winning the league.

Twenty-four bours earlier, Arsenal fans were expecting the Gunners to chalk up another crushing away victory. But Sunderland, the team that beat Liverpool with the help of a beach ball before losing to Spurs, upset the Gunners 1-0.

And the man who scored Sunderland's goal was former Spurs striker Darren Bent, who is also in fine scoring form.

Arsenal were dominant in passing and ball possesion, but the main problem was that they did not take their chances. They paid the same penalty as Liverpool at the Stadium of Light.

Arsenal will need to recover quickly if they don't want to be overtaken near the top.

But in north London the big question is: Who are top dogs, Tottenham or Arsenal?
