Freddie Ljungberg is believed to be considering a possible move back to English football.

Arsenal tickets

The former Arsenal midfielder has been plying his trade in the MLS with Seattle Sounders and has been a success in the USA since he arrived in October 2008.

But his coach at Seattle, Sigi Schmid, has expressed his doubts over whether the former underwear model will renew his contract with the franchise that is due to run out in November and feels he might leave this summer if a suitable offer is forthcoming.

“At this point, he is exploring options,” said Schmid. “So we'll see how things proceed in the next three, four, five days.”

Now we all know that “exploring options” means “mulling over an offer or two from other club(s)” so it would seem that somebody in Europe is interested in his services due to the timing of the offer.

With his greatest footballing moments occurring in England – his West Ham sojourn aside – it would make sense for him to harbour ambitions of returning to these shores.

However, at the age of 33 and having not played at the top level – my apologies to MLS fans – for over two years it would be a gamble for any club to invest to heavily in him.
