The logo for the next World Cup in 2014 has been revealed, and it has left some members of the hierachy dashing back behind their desks.
Football tickets
The tournament, which will take place in Brazil, is already gearing up to be the most anticiapted in some time. It will be the first time in 64 years since Brazil, the most successful of all World Cup nations, will host the creme de la creme of football tournaments. And the first in South America since 1978.
But already as Africa says goodbye, logo's and organising for four years later are well under way. So what is the bother of this new logo?
What we have is the World Cup trophy with one large hand covered over it and two hands caressing the top. The artists contracted to come up with said design say that the image shows three hands over the greatest trophy of all. What the heart and eye see though is something quite different.
So here we have what appears to be two hands at the top of the trophy looking very much like someone's neatly combed hair, and the bigger hand covering the trophy. Except now it clearly looks like the hand is covering a face, in shame. You can find the logo on wikipedia if you are interested.
And that, my friends, you can read into what you like. Is the shame that a poverty stricken country who, in places, struggles to give its people a decent living, and says what the hell is the World Cup doing here? Or can we refer to the mountains of allegations about the goings on at football HQ; FIFA?
And what of Brazilian football?
Not since the World Cup began in 1930 can I remember having seen a Brazil team that has fallen apart when easily leading and controlling a game against the aggressive monster that was the Dutch in South Africa.
It may be easy to say now but how on Earth did Dunga choose a lethargic, Mr No ideas Kaka instead of an energetic and in form Ronaldinho? What struck me even greater is that Dunga had the audacity to play two right sided defenders in Maicon and Dani Alves. True, he did try and deploy Maicon there allowing Alves to make the charging runs up the flanks, but why?
I have still not seen Alves make a telling cross that had an end product both for Brazil and his club Barcelona.
Its a shame in some ways that 2014 will mark Brazil hosting it once again, because unless half a team's worth are able to come through the ranks in such a short period, it could be quite a forgettable tournament for the samba boys. This could even lead Argentina's Diego Maradona to stay on for another term. The chance of him getting one over the old enemy in their back yard is an opportunity perhaps not to be missed.
Then the new logo would make sense after all.

It's not easy to say--because Ronaldinho is a fat lazy turd. This article proves nothing but your own idiocy.

You said it Paulo-Kaka is and will always be better than Ronaldinho. Anyways I'd like to see you playing for Brazil or doing anything you criticized in this article.
