Ancelotti though is adamant that his defender will remain in west London claiming that the player is happy where he is.
"Ashley is a Chelsea player and nobody wants to sell him," stated the former AC Milan boss. " We want to keep him in our squad. I am 100% sure he will be at Chelsea this season.
"I consider him to be the best player in his position in the world."
The Italian added: "I don't need to talk to him. He is happy to stay at Chelsea. He never said he wanted to go. There is no chance he will go. No way."
As unequivocal statements go, this is about as forthright as it gets. With Chelsea already missing Alex and Petr Cech from their back four for the start of the season as well as possibly losing the services of Ricardo Carvalho, Ancelotti will not welcome any further disruption to his defence.
