Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he sees Cesc Fabregas as a key component of Arsenal's future.

The Gunners captain has been courted aggressively by FC Barcelona who have resorted to all sorts of methods to attain his signature.

However, Arsenal have resisted all their efforts and remain adamant that the player will stay in London as part of the commitment the club and player have made to each other.

"The best way to show you are committed is that you give your best when you walk on the football pitch and he has always done that," said Wenger.

"When you sign a contract it means we are committed to a player to pay him and keep him no matter what happens."

Despite being only 23-years-old, Fabregas is seen as a senior figure within the Arsenal dressing room and Wenger feels his influence and guidance ar vital to the prosperity of this young team.

"There is a great attitude and spirit inside the squad and Cesc Fabregas can help us achieve these targets," added Wenger

"He is now at an age, 23 years old, and he has just won the World Cup. I believe he will grow in authority again for next season."
