Satan's little helpers (otherwise known as Manchester United), are at it again. Supporters jump on the jealousy bandwagon the minute a member of the real Reds (Liverpool) gets the recognition he truly deserves for his brilliance.
Can anyone honestly think of any British player deserving of an award other than Steven Gerrard? Frankly, no one (not even Frank Lampard) could possibly pull off the kind of match-winning abilities on display in the Champions League final and more recently the FA Cup final. Gerrard pulled his team up from certain defeat on both occasions to glory.
Gerrard is optimism personified. White Hart Lane has the slogan "To dare is to do"; well, Anfield should have "It isn't over ’til it’s over" on the stands in honour of Gerrard (Olympiakos, 86th minute). As the finest ambassador of British football, he thoroughly deserves his MBE. I can't think of any English player who does more for his team than Gerrard, unless Cristiano Ronaldo gets fast-tracked British citizenship, because, yes, he does influence games with his mesmerising dives.
Honestly, this type of envy could only come from Meanchester quarters and that’s why Gerrard has the last laugh.
Steven Gerrard MBE (Mancs Be Envious)
To more moments of brilliance, I congratulate Gerrard and may this award spur him on to greater things - and more glory for the Red of Liverpool.

We are not jealous of what liverpool of acheived (albeit in absolute fluke). You have to look what MANU have acheived in the recent past & not like liverpool's ancient past!!!

You just can't accept the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo is a better player than Gerrard, so lets just call him a diver. Did he score all his goals diving? I t think you better come up with something else because ther diving thing isn't workimng anymore.

Winning the champion's league in 2005 isnt really ancient past...its quite recent actually

Congratulatons to Steven Gerard MBE earned on merit a gentleman and a true captain of quality his performances in the European cup and cup final both medals of honour in there own right.
by Heretic on January 01, 2007
steven gerard does deserve his MBE, i mean a club like liverpool who are simply pathetic with their football and their own set of divers(la garcia) need such publicity to survive in the premiership, and as far as talking abt Man Utd, well we(the red devils) are managed by the majesty's own knight.....so why the hell would we be jealous of some has been......oh wait.......a never was.......and please dont compare Man Utd and Liverpool, first atleast match us in our results and success..............never gonna happy.........so enjoy ur moment in the sun while it lasts, afterall the MBE will be the only thing gerrard gets for the rest of his life.......

i am very taunted with the way the article itself is written it's so full of shame insulting Ronaldo on a distinguished web site.shame on the writer. as per Mr.Gerard ,he is a great player but he has never been there for one single time when England needed him but he was there when liverpool needed him. so i say he is not complete to be an ambassador of english football, the Great paul scholes, is the correct ambassador for english foot ball,we english people do not have a player who is as close as scholes, i am not a fan of manchester united ,i support fulham . so i say so many of my friends including me and the english fans are agreeing with what i say.so you, the writer of that article ;please ask yourself ,if you are thinking neutrally and besides if you know who plays good football with every quality . you can't see all scholes in Gerard, but you can see Gero in scholes.in the years to come i bet you will say Rooney. regards, yoseph

Gerrard is an influential player as you quite rightly put it, he's very well respected by Machester United. Your comments lack substance, did you write that article confirming your thoughts on Gerrards MBE or did you write it in "spite" of the Premiership leaders?? In any case, your article showed clear immaturity and sour grapes!! Grow up mate!

"Mesmeric dives", Liverpool v AC Milan, Liverpool v Bolton, Liverpool v Sheff United and England v Portugal..Gerrard dived in all of those games. Gerrard doesn't deserve an MBE, for what exactly? And, why should we be jealous anyway?..Sir Matt Busby, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton...you can have your MBEs, we're U-KNIGHT-ED!
by SATAN on January 02, 2007

Any player in any sport can get an MBE. Al you have to do is have your collegues nomnate you for one. Practicaly any sports personality who gets nominated is guarenteed a MBE. I've also heard that you can pay money for one.

Its been a while since football concentrated on winning medals. It is just a pity that the medals they eyes are on are not awarded for footballing brilliance, commitment or effort. The focus is on a medal awarded on a whim, given out by those who cave when subjected to peer pressure. So they are seen to be doing what the people want. I have no problem with sportsmen and women being recognised or rewarded for the work that they do both on and off the field. But why do it so soon Gerrard is still young he has at least another ten years of playing (injury permitting) then a possible media career. Giving him another twenty years to do even more good work before rewarding him. Besides what has he done this year? Help Liverpool win the FA Cup on penalties. Go missing when he was needed most at the World Cup. Or was it his ability to sell washing powder and get the nations youth off their backsides? If he was going to be rewarded for his footballing prowess it should have been done in 2005. However if it is f
