It is widely regarded that the Christmas period is a make-or-break time with games thick and fast and a moment where one’s club fortunes either prosper or fall by the waste side. This time last year we found ourselves sitting comfortably in fourth place but had just been knocked out of the cup by Leicester. Little did we know that the result in hindsight would spark the dramatic downturn in our previous solid away form and performances in general. Twelve months on we find ourselves sitting seven points adrift of fourth place, but still alive in all Cup competitions.
Most Spurs fans will look back at 2006 with delight. We had a top-five finish, coasted through the UEFA Cup stages and made the Carling Cup semis; it is nice to compete but surely that is the least we should expect, given our squad? Don’t we deserve better? And shouldn't we all be alarmed by the consistently gutless performances that don't seem to be changing?
I know Martin Jol likes his stats and whatever happens at the end of the season he can look back and say: “I got the team to the Carling Cup semi or final (OK, we had to beat both Southend and Port Vale after extra time) I’m proud of my achievements.” But let’s not forget that George Graham won it in his first year at the club and Glenn Hoddle took us to the final in his first full season - but that didn’t mean they were up to the job.
Support for Jol will be immense because, to his credit, his PR is fantastic. He says the right things that appeal to supporters but in reality the Spurs fan who sees the bigger picture will pick up the God-awful performances, lack of passion and the tactical naivety in games that has seen us lose just as many Premiership matches as we have won in the whole of 2006.

I completely agree with all of that, nice fella but his tactical awareness is zero. We have a squad of players to match anyone in the Prem in my opinion yet we are a million miles away in terms of consistency and performances.

Martin Jol is the best manager that has been at the club since Venables, infact hes better than Vanables! Get a grip with yourself, we're in the knockout of the UEFA this season, highest Premiership position last season.... and you'll rather we were fighting the relegation battle?!
You're being extremely blinkered, we won't win any of the cups and the aim is to become a top 4 side so the fact that we have are in the semis of a tinpot cup is irrelevent. We struggled to get even there against poor sides and have looked poor in the league all season. Our aim must be to gain consistency in the league and get into Europe again via a automatic placement. A cup would be nice but I want to see us consistently challenging up the top of the league, the cups will come afterwards.

I cant believe i have just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading such a load of rubbish. If its so bad go and support someone else. Do you really think another manager could have done any better?? I doubt it very much. Does a manager with tactical naivety get you to 5th in the prem in his first full season in charge - NO! Does a manager with tactical naivety win every game convincingly in the Uefa cup - NO Do us all a favour mate. If all you want to do is criticise, go and do it at someone else's club... I hear Chelsea have still got season tickets available
Fuck off you mug!! "Go and support another club" blah blah blah. It's my opinion you twat and I have supported Spurs for 29 years which gives me the right to have an opinion and immature dreamers like yourself can continue to look at the club with your rose tinted glasses. The fact is, for the money that we have spent and the structure we have in place the results have not been good enough. Have I said to sack him? No. I don't want to go back to the whole 'lets get another manager in every two years' scenario and want to give him time that previous managers haven't had but that doesn't stop us from being able to point out obvious failings and mistakes. Prick!

We are not a top 4 side, and haven't been for many years. Last season we got lucky a number of times, got wins where we deserved draws and drew where we deserved to lose. Had we played in the Champions League this season, we would have struggled. The UEFA Cup is fine for us at the moment. Remember we are building something, and that takes time. Some signings haven't been the best, but then others have been fantastic: Huddlestone, Lennon, Berbatov, Dawson etc. Decent left sided players are difficult to find for any team as England have discovered over the last few years. Lets benefit from some continuity, we are going in the right direction afterall. Sunday's result was a complete freak, and was the best I've seen us play all season. Some of the football was scintillating, yes there was a terrible defensive howler, but Martins's goal was a wonderful strike that wasn't even a half-chance. The problem with the Arsenal game is that we went there expecting to win, having just beaten Chelsea and with Arsenal strug

hahahaha, i think i pissed someone off. I have been a fanatical fan for 18 years and a season ticket holder for the past 10 and go to at least half of the away games a season. This is the best football, team/squad, manager we have had for the past decade. Criticising them is only going to do more harm than good. Especially as this team has more chance of success than any other for a long time, call me old fashioned, but i say we actually get behind them.
