GLASGOW (Reuters) - Scotland have been hit by injury and illness ahead of Wednesday's Euro 2008 Group B qualifier in Lithuania and are drafting in Hibernian forward Scott Brown.

Lokomotiv Moscow striker Garry O'Connor has been sidelined with a stomach bug while Celtic defender Stephen McManus is highly doubtful with a thigh strain.

Coach Tommy Burns revealed at a news conference on Monday that Wigan midfielder Lee McCulloch and Reading defender Graeme Murty had already been sent back to their clubs after failing to recover from knee knocks.

"Murty and McCulloch have both gone back to their clubs while Stephen McManus sustained a thigh injury and I think it's going to rule him out," Burns said.

"It's probably better he goes back for treatment and Garry O'Connor has gone down...with sickness and diarrhoea.

"I would doubt whether we'll bring him back in the group purely on the basis that (the bug) may spread around them. It's better safe than sorry. We've asked Hibs for Scott Brown."

Scotland opened their campaign with a 6-0 home rout of Faroe Islands on Saturday while Lithuania shocked world champions Italy by holding them to a 1-1 draw in Naples.
