Goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Jermaine Jenas, a spirited performance from Robbie Keane and Young-Pyo Lee and a much improved performance from Teemu Tainio saw Spurs through to a 2-1 victory away from home, their first league victory of 2007 and their second away from home this season. In truth we might have won 3-0 but for some missed chances and Paul Robinson forgetting how to defend a free-kick. Any thoughts of berating him for his [David] James-like calamity were soon forgotten as he subsequently made two excellent saves.

What we did right in this game was play to our strengths. The fans have been demanding an attacking strategy away from home and that was what they got. Tainio's persistence earned the ball in midfield, he found Aaron Lennon whose cross was finished by Berbatov. Everton saw little ball in the first half - it took a lucky call from Uriah Rennie overruling his assistant ref and Robinson's mishap to get them back in it.

The hosts retreated to a 4-5-1 formation in the second half which got them some possession but Toffees' fans will be livid at their team's lack of commitment, along with David Moyes' decision to add a more defensive player for the last 10 minutes whilst drawing at home. This allowed Spurs to dominate the ball and carve out a number of openings before Jenas netted with a sweet strike from outside the box.

And with that, a small note to the Everton fans who left some less than pleasant messages after my prediction of a Spurs victory and didn't take my piece with the pinch of salt it deserved (I am a Spurs fan after all).

1. Garymac: Yes, hahahahah indeed.
2. Jamo, got them chickens, thanks. No7Bally, yes, I am an idiot. Deano, I may well be a c**k.
3. I was right.

Everton fans out there, send your (polite) responses to Sportingo.
