The season has become exciting once again after the partly beautiful and partly ugly Carling Cup final. By winning the competition, Jose Mourinho has increased the pressure on his fellow managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. There is one thing that defines Chelsea - and that is mental strength and spirit. They showed it again after going a goal down early in the first half, Didier Drogba, John Terry and Petr Cech demonstrating the spirit in the club. Even the most die-hard Arsenal fan would agree that their kids blew it. It is time Wenger won a few trophies for Arsenal, otherwise there will be pressure on his youngsters to perform. He should also stop the habit of moaning after a drab draw or a loss on the basis that Arsenal have played superior football. The target should be to win games playing good football - but if others are not allowing you to play football, then adapt to the needs and start winning ugly. The next few days will determine Arsenal's season. The worst set of results could be losing to Blackburn and PSV, and knowing their mental frailty, also losing out on the Champions League spot at the end of the season (which looks frighteningly possible). My prediction is a barren cupboard for Arsenal this season. The Carling Cup win also reignites Chelsea's dream of a quadruple. As long as Cristiano Ronaldo is at his best, Jose Mourinho's men have a very slim chance of retaining their Premiership title. The Champions League and FA Cup may go their way - the only teams that can threaten them in Europe are Liverpool, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Barcelona. Liverpool, after their Cup defeats at the hands of Arsenal, have come good, not least because of the decongestion of fixtures. They are in pole position to reach the quarters by defeating Barcelona. In Rafael Benitez , they also have a wily tactician who can outwit Mourinho. The Anfield team are also more suited to the continental type of football that pays dividends in the Champions League. They have a good chance of being European champions again this season.
Manchester United look dangerous in the Premiership but are a shadow of their usual selves in Europe, and that may have to do with their flowing brand of football. They may also miss the guile of Henrik Larsson in the latter stages of the season. Wayne Rooney's form will be really valuable if they are to preserve their lead over Chelsea. In the FA Cup they look a bit vulnerable and may lose out. So my prediction for them is the Premiership.Who will win what? Send your predictions to Sportingo.

It is obvious who your bias is towards! Bottled it? No, we were robbed by an offside goal amongst other things! And Liverpool are a threat in Europe? Dont make me laugh. Arsenal are far superior to the Scousers, as proven by our 3-1 win in the FA cup, and our KIDS yes, thats right, KIDS 6-3 MAULING of them in the Carling. Whoever wrote this article is obviously completely ignorant.

The big four Chelsea did well to come back and win the Carling Cup. Arsenal play great football and sent out a team of youngsters in Carling Cup Final and lost. No matter how good the football is - a win is a win and there is no trophy for playing well and losing. Hats off to Alex Ferguson who has done an exceptional job to lead ManUtd to the top of the premiership. As a Liverpool fan i hate to be on the losing side but credit where credit is due and all 3 teams are always going to be in the mix. Mourinho may complain about injuries and lack of first team players - but he has not been short of funds and no one else to blame if the players he has cannot perform. Liverpool fans are dying to win the premiership-its the one thats eluded the club. We have won every other honour including champions league and UEFA cup. All these clubs require recognition and have brought delight to domestic and european football. Whilst these clubs continue to be successful, it will always be difficult for other teams

It surprises me how the gunners fans are so out of touch! Seriously, which cup are you going to win? CL - get over PSV first. FA? Chelsea! Continue playing beautiful football with out winning and you will soon be relegated! Win a match that matters for Christssake!

Dont know who you support, but all this article has been is a load of rubbish criticising Arsenal under Wenger. FYI Arsene is regarded as the best manager in Arsenal history and short of taking the club into the conference I cant see the board sacking him or putting pressure on him to immediately win trophies as you wrongly suggested. Get your facts right and stop lowering the standard of an average site.

Manchester United will win the Premiership; Liverpool the UEFA CL and Arsenal will be barren.

Arsenal hasn't played good football. Maybe the 1st 30 minutes of the Carling cup final. Other than that, CL was such a disappointment. They were playing to loose. FA Cup was a disaster. No one wanted to score. Non one wanted to win.

The sight of Emmanuel Adebayor with the ball at his feet, on the edge of the PSV area with a clear sight at goal looking to play the square ball to a teammate being marked by a defender epitomises what Arsenal have become. With exit from the Champions League all but ensured and fourth spot in the Premiership looking more and more unrealistic as they drop points to opposition from the bottom of the table the future looks dark for Arsenal fans.

ARSENAL SHOULS BUY TALENT BUT NOT TOO YOUNG
My comment below was taken from the ITV web-site, (written before going out of both domestic cups). I've never had strong feelings about Arsenal either way, but now I feel their players (and manager) don't respect the domestic cups, largely because they're foreign and don't have the same emotional attachment. Their indiscipline in the Final was a disgrace and brings shame on them and their club. I hope the FA throw the book at them.

Even Wenger said the players lost their nerve. There's a difference between defensive and deluded, but you guys are both. The only consistency Arsenal have is in losing.

everybody likes too throw stones at chelsea,i remember the dark years in the second division.when liverpool, arsenal and utd winning all the trophys.now we have the same money as those clubs.some people just can't handle it.but after this week in europe from the teams in the premiership, chelsea has made a higher level of football in our league.
as you can see chelsea fans have trouble spelling

arsenal are now out of the cups and due to decongestion of fixtures we should see a challenge for both the champions league and possible a 3 way fight for 2nd place in the league with Chelsea and Liverpool as the season comes to a close.
