The first-leg draw last week against Valencia at Stamford Bridge was disappointing for Chelsea. And because away goals act as tie-breakers, teams then prefer the second leg to be at home - where the fans fire up the players. So the Blues' trip to the Mestalla Stadium was always going to be difficult.

Looking back at the first leg, David Silva's brilliant strike was unstoppable. Yet the Blues always know how to answer back in the second half. The second leg at the Mestalla Stadium one week later was another one to remember for the London team.

Chelsea had much of the possession but Valencia went ahead through Fernando Morientes and by the end of the first-half, could have had two more. If only to be sarcastic, I could easily say Chelsea always win by playing only in the second half. But while other teams start to lose hope from being a goal down, Chelsea invariably fight back to win.

After Andriy Shevchenko levelled, the Spanish side started to fumble. Then Michael Ballack's downward header from a Frank Lampard free-kick looked to be goalbound only for Santiago Canizares to make a great save. But Michael Essien's last-minute goal sent us through to what should be another great battle with Liverpool.

Roma's 7-1 loss against Manchester United was not down to brilliance from Cristiano Ronaldo and Co; rather it was down to terrible defending.  I have lost my respect for the Italian team.
