If ever there was a time for Tottenham Hotspur to make their move and break the Top 4 cartel it is now. But for them to do this they need to depose one of the other teams, so we look first at them: Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Liverpool are looking decent but nothing special in Premiership terms, relying too much on a tall lanky man with limited talent, for all the Liverpool fans would like to believe otherwise. Rafael Benitez is a decent manager but in the Martin O' Neil mould and nothing special and, along with it, not particularly imaginative. They do, however, have transfer money, which is more than can be said for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger is great for toeing the company line for a steady ship - in this case the "I don't want to buy anyone" and "we have transfer money" company line. We all know that they don't, with over 300million pounds of debt to service. Wenger knew that moving to a larger stadium was going to make sense in the long term but would be tough in the short term and he did the smart thing on a tight budget: concentrate on the upcoming youth who cost less in the market and in wages.

Once the funds become available he can add to that young talent some world class talent, ie not Baptista. Arsenal are still in the Top 4 through the grace of Arsene Wenger's talent. He is probably the best manager in the Premiership. Also, the new TV money means that even if they did find themselves outside of the Champions League for a couple of seasons they will not go the way of Leeds, which was a big danger before the ridiculous new TV deal was announced.

Manchester United and Chelsea look less vulnerable. If the "Special One" and the Oligarch kiss and make up there will be no blips for Chelsea. If they don't you can add them to the vulnerable mix if only temporarily. Short of Alex Ferguson having a stroke Manchester United look a shoe-in for Top 4 for the forseeable future.

In the short-term Arsenal are probably the most vulnerable team right now. Whereas there is plenty of talent for the future there is a lack of money and squad depth means that Arsene Wenger must be on top form to keep them higher in the table than their experience would normally allow or, for that matter, deserve. In the longer term it would be Liverpool most vulnerable if only because Benitez does not seem to be the man to return them to greatness.

Chelsea are only vulnerable if Roman Abramovich tires of his plaything or the idea, touted some time ago, allowing teams only to spend a limited percentage of club income on wages is ever brought in, curtailing Chelsea's costly ambitions. Otherwise you can never expect them to drop out of the Top 4 for more than a season before buying their way back in.
