Home > Football > Pepe Reina does a hypnosis job for Liverpool on Chelsea, but will AC Milan go under in Athens?

Rather like the final in 2005, the penalty shoot-out seemed rather familiar as Liverpool advanced to the Champions League Final at the expense of Chelsea.
I love the whole wave-your-arms and jump-up-and-down antics of Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina. It seems as though he is trying to hypnotise his opponents. It was similar in many ways to the hypnotic movements of Jerzy Dudek in Istanbul. On that AC Milan were the victims and Liverpool went on to win the trophy.
And once again it was Liverpool who showed that they are hungry for success, backed by that wonderful Kop and the stirring singing of "You'll Never Walk Alone" - adopted over the years as their own personal anthem.
A very well timed goal by defender Daniel Agger (thanks to an astute free-kick by Steven Gerrard) provided the incentive for Liverpool as they wiped out Chelsea's first leg lead and would eventually take the game to extra time.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't really remember Drogba hitting the bar chelsea. On the other hand, Kuyt definitely did.

Let me be the first to say that Liverpool will beat Milan again. They'll get the respect that they deserve but we have nothing to fear. They can talk about revenge all they want but they'll be facing a stronger and tougher Liverpool than in Istanbul 2005. We'll do our talking on the field. Once again, Rafa will surprise with team selection and I fully expect Harry Kewell to make an appearnace. With no injury worries, we should be at full strength. The final in Athens will feel very much like a home tie because we have the best supporters in the world.

Drogba hitting the woodwork? I have to agree with Shervin here, that never happened. That's a bit of a glaring error!

To say that this game was an evenly matched is not just wrong but suggests the author either didn't watch the game or knows very little about football. Liverpool clearly deserved to win this game in the same manner that Chelsea deserved to win the first leg. No mention of Kuyt hitting the bar or his disallowed goal and as mentioned in other comments Drogba didn't hit the bar at all..sloppy and lazy work.
