Any team that cannot score against Tottenham's current defence deserves a place in the Championship; poor Charlton are now looking at directions to Scunthorpe. Tottenham are sublime going forward but an absolute shambles in defence - particularly against set pieces. Not that having a shambolic defence could take away the joy of watching Anthony Gardner having the time of his life bombing down the left flank after Ricardo Rocha went off injured - not quite sure what to do but throwing himself into it. I understand if he leaves to get first-team football elsewhere but his sheer enthusiasm will be sorely missed.

Dimitar Berbatov's goal was sublime again and a touch that looked luck at first proved, in slow motion, to have been entirely deliberate. The papers continue to speculate on a move despite Berbatov, his agent, Martin Jol, Damien Comolli and Daniel Levy stating he is going nowhere for any price. Just more media pundits trying to write an "exclusive" for the gullible end of the market. Sam Allardyce to Newcastle is a cinch, though, and I expect them to make top six next year under his tutelage.

Still, it was a fun game to watch and Spurs are now just three points away from fiftth place (come on, Everton really aren't going to get that win against Chelsea) but I still want all six of the remaining points so that Arsenal can look over their shoulder for a second year running and see us with big grins right behind them. The vitriol of their fans to my pieces on Sportingo all season barely disguise the worries of fans who know they support a team with no money and a threadbare, if talented, squad ready to be turned into Premiership fodder if they hit a bad run.

For all Liverpool fans' optimism I don't see them winning the Champions League any more than I see Peter Crouch learning how to overcome gravity for a couple of seconds and get his ar*e of the ground. It's an Italian winner this time around leaving Liverpool cupless again. Manchester United are the winners of the season and I look to Sir Alex Ferguson showing Jose Mourinho up in the FA Cup and take the double leaving the famous- quadruple- winning- squad- to- be of Chelsea standing awkwardly with only the League Cup in their hands.

It's Blackburn next for Spurs and it will be the toughest of the final matches. Blackburn are notorious for their defensive savvy but Tottenham have one advantage here and that is that Blackburn have to push forward as they want a European place. and that will give Berbatov, Aaron Lennon and Keane some space to work a little magic.
