Another impressive Premiership season for Tottenham, finishing in fifth place and securing a Uefa Cup spot next season. There has been a lot of speculation linking the club with a summer move for Charlton Athletic striker Darren Bent who will be one of many hot property buys this summer. Spurs are in pursuit of a striker to replace the AWOL Hossam Amehed Mido.
The Daily Mail has stated that Bent would like a move to Tottenham in order to play alongside Dimitar Berbatov. But our main focus for the summer shopping spree should be in both midfield and defence. But with Mido and Hossam Ghali stating that they want out, I feel Bent would be a perfect option to consolidate the strike department. Mido only started 13 games this season as his place in the pecking order has fallen since Berbatov came on the scene.
Bent's pace and direct running may be what Tottenham need alongside either Robbie Keane or Berbatov next season. Tottenham are also lining up a possible move for Eidur Gujohnsen, as he has failed to secure a regualr first team place at the Nou Camp. The former Chelsea man could be placed in an attack-midfield role.
I feel we have lost out to Manchester United in getting Southampton youngster Gareth Bale who is almost sure to leave the south coast following the club's failure to secure promotion to the Premiership. Bale is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford so Martin Jol may be interested in Wigan defender Leighton Baines or Portsmouth's Matthew Taylor. Our defence needs a lot of TLC so a signing is a top priority.

couldnt we spend money on positions that obviously need attention, 100 goals, I know lets go and buy a striker!, are we insane?

bent and defoe would be a great patnership

we have 3 strikers who between them scored over 65 goals we do not need to spend such a vast amount of money on a player who is only as good as we already have. £15m is far too much for bent and i would prefer all of that spent on a real class left winger.

we definatley shouldnt pay 15 mil for him though

great comments i dont like the thought of jol spending that much i feel she should try and get MGP or gudjohnsen to the labne for maybe a bit less.i recon bent is a bit overated but good.

berbatove needs a large payrise ASAP £22k is unrealistic, and we need to show him some comittment if we want it in return. I agree with all of u who see bent as a waste of money. i'd rather we signed baines from wigan and a left winger from europe, as barry is comitted and MGP probablt wouldn't be sold to us

I can't see us spending big on a striker, and I don't want us too! Bent in if Defoe goes! Thats fair enough! Berbatov and Keane will be our number 1 partnership next season! Defoe and ? as back up! But we should not waste 10m plus on a striker as back up for Berbatov! We must strengthen other areas if we are to finish in the top 4! Next season is a huge one for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club! COME ON YOU SPURS!
spurs should stop trying buying to buy players from lower leagues and get some world class talent in, or even someone like manuel fernandez.

What the hell are you on about. The person who wrote this thing is talking crap. I watch spurs week in week out and i have never seen as good a striker as Robbie Keane. Why on earth would you buy darren bent, to sit on the bench? Why would you want a Bent berbatov partnership when the Berbatov & Keano partnership is one of the best i the top european leagues. You need your head testing, Robbie keane is probably our best player - he does sssssooooo much work for the team, much more than Bent or Defoe would ever do!!!

Why not buy S. Wright Phillips - he is totally wasted at Chelsea, and at Spurs would give great width and pace on the left, wtih Lennon on the right - who catch Spurs down the wings ???
