Whether the ball crossed the line or not is immaterial. Chelsea won the FA Cup 1-0 with a fine goal from Didier Drogba after a pathetic excuse of a match served up by our country's two supposed top teams.

For once in my life I hope Liverpool have had their Weetabix on Wednesday morning because they will need it if they are to come anywhere near restoring a little bit of pride in the British game when they attempt to wrest the European Champions League trophy from AC Milan in Athens.

What Chelsea and Manchester United served up at the new Wembley was enough to put most folk off football for good - if they weren't already. And if that's what is going to be on offer at the new home of football on a regular basis, they might as well put the padlocks on the gates now and contemplate turning it into one big car-boot venue. At least that would give the crowds a chance of getting value for money!

At £10 per programme and £8 a burger, the mugs who paid out on Saturday want their heads examining as well as their bank balances restoring - and all they got was a match that would have sent a ground full of hyperactive eight-year-old into a trance.

Drogba's goal was class, the one thing that shone during 120-odd minutes of dross. And whether the ball crossed the line as Petr Cech dived low and attempted to stop a United boot forcing the ball out of his grasp and into the net was immaterial, anyway, as a foul had almost certainly been committed before he rolled over and appeared to take the ball in, too.

Anyway, let's consign that game to the rubbish bin where it belongs and concentrate on Wednesday. Can Liverpool do the impossible and yet again beat the mighty Milan in the ultimate European football competition? NO!

If Paolo Maldini, Gennaro Gatusso and Kaka perform anywhere near their best, it will be a landslide for AC - and there will be no comebacks 2005-style by the Scousers this time. Kaka could beat them on his own on his day, anyway - which is more often than not every day.

So, much as I admire Rafa Benitez, I think he has one heck of a job on to psyche Liverpool up to anywhere near the level needed to even match Milan, never mind beat 'em.

I just hope it isn't as boring as that pitiful excuse for an FA Cup Final - and the only thing we get bored with is watching Jose Reina repeatedly retrieving the ball out of the Liverpool net!

Was the Cup Final really that boring - and do Liverpool really have no chance against Milan? Leave a comment below or write an article if you prefer.
