The sequel to the most unbelievable European Cup Final ever is scheduled for Wednesday night in Athens, with Champions League veterans Milan and Liverpool having won the crown 11 times between them.

Milan look to have the better team on paper but the events of two years back will serve as a reminder for the Italians when they troop on to the pitch at the magnificent Olympic Stadium. The dynamic Milan midfield holds  the key to unlocking Liverpool's defence, with Andrea Pirlo and hatchet man Gennaro Gattuso looking to provide the likes of the majestic Kaka and versatile Clarence Seedorf with as much ball as possible.

Liverpool will have to come up with something special to keep Kaka quiet, and gaffer Rafa Benitez is probably the one manager who has the tactical nous to implement a plan to curtail the Rossoneri. The Reds will look to golf sensation Craig Bellamy, workhorse Dirk Kuyt and beanpole striker Peter Crouch, who is likely to be used as a sub to unsettle Milan's backline with his height.

Milan's experienced back line will include evergreen defender Paolo Maldini, who will be playing in his eighth European final. Steven Gerrard will probably be denied time and space in midfield to exert any influence on the game with Gattuso likely to prove a nuisance of himself.

Milan want revenge and are more than capable of exacting it  from Liverpool, but the Reds have precisely the type of team that can stifle the Italians' attacking threat. This clash certainly looks  to be a cagey affair likely to be settled by one moment of luck or a single piece of brilliance with either Kaka or Gerrard taking centre stage.
