Reports suggest that Tottenham are now lining up a move for OSC Lille’s attacking midfielder Kader Keita as Martin Jol feels he is a more realistic target for European campaigns in future seasons.

Keita, 25, currently has three more years on his contract at Lille but may be tempted by a move to play alongside fellow Ivory Coast star Didier Zokora. Also known as 'Pepito', Keita started his career in his homeland with African Sports and has since had a wide array of clubs. He moved to Lille in 2005 and has been attracting attention from some of Europe's big guns including AC Milan, Manchester United and Liverpool. Now it seems Tottenham have joined the pursuit of the highly-rated Keita.

Anybody who has not seen this guy in action should be aware of the amount of skill and pace he carries on the ball. Once he finds an opening in the defensive line, he is not afraid to fire in a deadly shot; in my view he’s not far off the likes of Dimitar Berbatov or Wayne Rooney. He has an African tempo to his game - a natural, authentic style which not many other players possess. Zokora and Obafemi Martins are also similar in style.

Earlier in the year Spurs were trying to make a bid for Sporting Lisbon’s Nani, but it looks as though he will turn us down for a so-called 'bigger club' like Manchester United. If we do in fact sign Keita, I reckon Jol would never even look back at Nani.

Spurs have also reportedly captured Gareth Bale from Southampton after close links to the Wales defender’s family suggested he has agreed personal terms. This suggests the deal will be done sometime during the next few days. The dead-ball master looks to be on his way to The Lane. The question is will he do the job at left-back?

Come on you Spurs!
