Simon Grayson and his victorious Blackpool side deserve every bit of praise they get after their brilliant run of success that culminated with that League One play-off final win over Yeovil .

Grayson is a bright, young relatively-new name in the game at managerial level and it's great to see him and the team getting the projection and acclaim that great 10-match winning run brought.

Now they will be rewarded with games against arch-rivals Preston, Burnley and the rest - and the "Donkey Lashers" and their supporters will be hoping to cheer on many more victories come the start of the 2007-2008 campaign.

I have no doubt they will be able to do that comfortably and achieve a mid-table finish at the very least in their first season in the Championship. The Premiership may have to wait a few more years, but they have every reason to believe they will be able to survive at the very least at the top level.

The town of Blackpool has been accused of letting itself go to seed in recent years as cut-price European jet travel and growing consumer demands and pursuits have overtaken the jolly old "kiss me quick", big fat ladies, rock and fish and chips image the Blackpool of old portrayed - and more often than not delivered.

The football club's promotion to the top two tiers of the English league will bring more of a boost to the town and its economy than any casino or super, new Pleasureland ride would.

The families will return to fill the guest houses, particularly at the weekends as lads and their dads come up to go to the match, while the mums and their daughters parade the prom getting chatted up and licking candy floss till they drop.

Just how much cash Grayson will get to keep the Blackpool dream rolling along is debatable. Not a lot I guess. But the supporters and others feel he already has a squad good enough to take on the first step of their new challenge without too much trouble.

Good luck to 'em and hopefully Blackpool will soon become synonymous with sun, sea, sand and sparkling soccer.
