London rivals Tottenham and Fulham are facing a Premiership battle for FSV Mainz's Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan. The 25-year-old International joined Mainz from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen for a reported club record transfer fee of approximately three million euros.

Now, for a similar sum of money, the player is priced as a mere parking ticket for some of Europe's most respectable clubs. Watching some film clips of Zidan, I am astonished by the amount of skill and talent he possesses. His style is comparable to some of the world's most formidable players, like Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard. Zidan has plenty of pace, his timing is great and he is skilful both on and off the ball.

He shows all the qualities of a player capable of holding his own at the top level and has ambition to play in the Champions League or UEFA Cup next season. He has also made clear his ambition to join a top European club - and the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Chelsea may yet get involved.

Zidan has also stated his desire to play alongside Brazilian sensation Ronaldinho in the next two or three years. However, such a move may be out of the picture, should a bid come along from either Tottenham or Fulham, who at the moment are leading the race for his signature.

Bundesliga club Hamburg have also shown interest in Zidan's performances this season, after he scored an impressive 14 goals in 13 appearances for his club.

After failing to secure top-flight football in the Bundesliga, Mainz were unfortunately relegated to a lower division. Zidan is thought to possess a relegation clause in his contract, which will of course pave the way for successful clubs to lure him out of Mainz's grasp.
