Your incident one is completely flawed by the fact Zenden played in both semi final matches with Chelsea, and that the only other alternatives where Kewell (played even less) and Gonzales (a sack of shit).

Americans love winners. They cant stand loosers. If Raffa was as smart as you say he is, he would know that loosing would not have pleased his new owners. Even in America, winners het all the glory. No one remembers runners up. If Raffa won the cup, he could have dictated terms and Gillet and Hicks would have agreed. Now that he lost, he risk being branded a looser. Would Raffa take that kind of risk? Gerrard? Carragher? I dont think so. In sport, winning is everything. A game thrown is just not worth the risk.

You Sir are a Buffoon!!

I guess it took someone with a fresh viewpoint to spot this evil plan, so fresh, I doubt they've seen us play before. You can always look back and think different decisions should have been made(we have). To attribute this to some Machiavellian scheme?, don't give up the day job. What? this is your day job? hahahahahahahahahahah

to think Milan couldnt win on their own. Milan beat Liverpool in Istanbul with their goals and then their own arrogance. This time, they kept their head and did it properly and there was NOTHING Liverpool could have done about it. NOTHING. So...conspire to loose my arse. Liverpool could never have won! This is just another clever cover to excuse the Liverpool loss. Indeed Liverpool fans who dream these excuses up are the WORSE FANS or shall I say...BUNCH OF ARSEHOLES in EUROPE!

I agree with you on most points stated and came up with the same theory the other day. It was there for all to see that Milan were there for the taking, with minor changes in our own set-up. Tactical astute as Rafa is, he must have known it. Either this theory is right or Rafa has completely lost it. Anyway, so far it seems as it did not work, as the big name signings we are all craving for haven't materialised, yet.

Absolutely rubbish! Clueless Liverpool were contained and trashed by a Milan team playing well within themselves. Man U suffered the same fate againsta sl;ightly higher tempo Milan - and AC aren't even the best team in Serie A this season!

it is a shame you are allowed to write rubbish such as this and it is read on the internet, it is insulting to other journalists and article writers. It is possibly the worst article i have ever read.

I love this article,i said to my better half I wouldnt be surprised if rafa was trying to make a point!.. But i was just making a comment,so it was funny to see my thoughts written in black and white!.I dont want to think like that but i do and if it was true we shall see what rafa is made of now. YNWA

NO Way!! The ref was bribed by AC. It was plain to see. Cheating Italian C****.

Ok you may have made some points which could be viewed as valid in the way that you put them across, but there's a few things that you havent considered. Rafa's hand was forced in starting with Zenden. There were no fully fit players to play on the left, and bringing Kewell on later in the game was the only option he had as he was no way near match fitness. And correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that Pennant played a blinder. When it comes to Rafa's transfers, he hasn't wasted a great deal of money. Nunez, Josemi, Barragan and Kromkamp totals cost less than £2.5m. Fowler, Pellegrino, and Zenden were frees. Who would have ever guessed that Morientes and Bellamy wouldn't have made it. Alonso, Kuyt, Agger, Aurelio, Arbeloa, Sissoko, Crouch, Pennant, and Mascherano have either proved or are starting to prove their worth to the team. The only players you could say were risky gambles who didn't pay off were Gonzalez and Paletta (but remember he was bought for the long term and is still learning).

This is by far and away the best and most funny article I have ever read. To the other posts, you take yourselves FAR FAR FAR too seriously. Liverpool fans just cant take a joke....

Liverpoool lost because AC Milan wanted it more, we didn't take our chances, they did. I fail to see any hint of conspiracy in the loss. You ,as a conspiracy theorist, can't fool any of the people at ANY time ! Wake up to the Real world ...
by Lawrence Lee on June 05, 2007
Interesting story. I'm not a Dan Brown fan but I'd like to read another theory about Chelsea throwing it so Jose can rub it into Roman's face. That would make an interesting read.
by Simon Kitson on June 05, 2007
Never read anything so absurd in my life. The author is an attention-seeking fool. It's not even vaguely interesting.

you deluded clown you make galliard look educated!

LFC will probably will get GBP70Millions AT LEAST if they did win the CL..did it make any sense??Stupid!!
Pennant played fine, yes, but there was no-one to receive any of his crosses. And more often than not he did not find someone to pass to. I agree with you about Zenden, though he easily could have been withdrawn at half-time. When we signed Morientes I was quite sure he wouldn't make it and with regards to Bellamy I still would keep him as I am convinced that he will come better next season, but then I can't see Paletta a lot longer at our club. Given most of the comments about this article claim that the author is kind of stupid, I consider myself stupid too, because I wondered during almost the entire CL final why we didn't change the set-up. This theory at least gives a possible answer. The other one I would find is that Rafa has lost it. Having faith in your manager and team is one thing, but having blind faith is another. Turn on your brain and even consider it. It is not as far fetched as you think.
by Peter Gill on June 05, 2007
i'd laugh but you're obviously some sort of fool
by Craig Moore on June 05, 2007
Now I know why. Zenden and Pennant were obvious mistakes and were playing out of their league. pennant was ok at the start but faded badly. Gerrard missed so many sitters and Alonso was just plain bad. Why didnt Raffa turn things around like he did in Istanbul? The ans seems to be after Istanbul, everyone thought he was going on to win the EPL. he didnt and got blasted for it. Now there is no expectation but to build on what could have been - which allows him room to spend more. Smart man Raffa. Why else would he whine about lack of money so soon after the Milan loss? This article may be fiction, but its got me thinking.....
by mattt on June 05, 2007
yea maybe he did so theyd give us 70m for losein or we could of just won got 70m and thed only given 30m tink before you write
by CJM on June 05, 2007
An interesting read, but obviously that's about it. I'd love to think we threw the match so we could have leverage over transfers, but the fact is that Zenden and Pennant were playing because we had no-one better. And Gerrard, Carragher and Alonso don't throw games. Milan for all their faults, deserved it on the night. However, this doesn't change the fact that Rafa has indeed demonstrated the need for a number of top-drawer replacements... Let hope we are given enough cash to buy 3 or 4 top players.
